Dale Jr wins How many races this cup year

Dale Jr = Kyle Petty

I disagree, Dale, Jr has won many more races than Kyle, 18 vs 8. Kyle was really only strong at two tracks, Rockingham and Dover. Junior runs well at several tracks including the plate races, Richmond, Texas, Bristol and Charlotte. I would compare him more to Buddy Baker as far as second generation Cup drivers. Decent, but not close to being as good as their fathers.

Fair point. I made the comparison more in the vein, that they are both in the shadow of their father. The older you get the harder it seems to be able to win races.

Junior is in his prime now, and not to be more successful is disappointing. I think he will become Kyle, in that he never met the expectations he came into Nascar with.

I think how Jr runs this weekend will set the tone for his season. He said himself its critical to run good this weekend and this season. I hope he puts it together on the track.

Whole lotta drivers in the shadow of Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt.

Understand the point though. His Cup career started well (15 wins first five seasons), but the last five years have been mediocre at best. As a fan of the guy, I'd like to have blamed the last couple seasons at TEI on the fact that he was driving for a second (at best) tier team, but he was more competitive in '06 & '07 with TEI equipment than he has been in the last two seasons at HMS.

I thought 08 was at least a consistent season until he got to the Chase. He just can't seem to put an entire season together. Bottom line is he has to win some races and run up front this year.

1 or 2 tops...sorry Jr fans but the talent just isn't there...he's in the best equipment in Nascar and still wasn't a threat last season.

most likely be the best finish he will see till the next plate race.

Its good to see Jr. have that "fire" return to make the moves he did to push to second. It also reminded me of his dad a little. That 2nd place finish could be the spark needed to turn around the #88 team, I think the next two/three weeks will determine how he'll fare the rest of season. I expect maybe 2-3 victories if he does well.

I almost tore my office down when he got there to McMurray. I think he has that fire in his belly again.

I don't think he ever will, maybe he runs better this year, and wins a few.I don't see it happening.but to early to count anyone out.

Just compete and be consistent and grab a couple wins, that's all I ask. If he does that he's got a shot but he has a long season in front of him
