Dan Mullen to Dallas?

How does Mullen go from being the next Butch Jones to a candidate for the Dallas Cowboys job that, as of this moment is not vacant?

With Dan's relationship with Dak, this is not out of the realm of possibilities. Dan is proven where Lincoln showed in the college playoffs that defense is optional or nonexistent in the Big 12.

not by the same fans.
Some think he’s great. They will continue to think that. Others think he’s not. They will continue to think that. I find myself in the middle and will continue to think that way.
I don’t think anyone’s opinion will change

Jimmy and Bill would have won a lot more games for Dallas if Jerry let them run the team without his meddling.
Both were nomads tho. With Jimmy, the Cowboys very likely win 3 SB in a row. And Parcells was worth a playoff win or two that Wade Phillips couldn’t wrangle.

Really? Jerry isn't the best NFL boss by a long shot. He can't keep his fingers out of the pie.
His son actually calls the shots. He’s mastered the art of convincing Jerry that they’re his own ideas.

Garrett has a 2nd meeting with Jones today. No timetable to fire or hire coaches.

Good luck next year with Garrett and his new contract Cowboys fans

Mullen to the Cowboys makes so much sense. For one…Being reunited with the quarterback he helped mold and develop. Number two, mullen is one of these guys that is just a football coach. Amazing x’s & O’s guy that obviously would rather spend time drawing up plays than trying to put sales pitches on a bunch of 17 year old kids. He is an amazing coach… Not an amazing recruiter. Would make a lot of sense for him and the Cowboys. And separately, what a dream for Tennessee. Florida would have to bring in a new coach to essentially start over after only having Mullen for 2 seasons.

Then why a 2nd meeting? How hard is it to lay out facts and let someone go?

I’m still in the believe it when I see it camp
Jerry and Jason go way back. Werder was saying jones wanted to give Jason the ability to say good bye to players yesterday and officially complete the season. We shall see.

As a Cowboys fan, I just really hope Garrett is fired. I'm still in the 'believe it when I see it' stage. There is just something about Garrett that Jerry likes. It's not as if he has ever been a great coach. The NFC Divisional Playoff round has been the ceiling... but he has lasted 9 seasons.
Jerry has kept him cuz he admires how the Steelers always stick with their coaches. And...Garrett has been the perfect yes man for him.
