Danielson "Butch Jones will have them ready"

Does anyone remember when Butch passed on the Colorado job saying that his next move was to a destination job he could be at for a long time. In that interview he said there were 4 jobs on that list.

I imagine Tennessee and Michigan were both on there. Probably common knowledge in coaching circles that Dooley was a goner before he even heard from Tennessee.

You do realize they have been playing in the Big 10, along with playing a lot of weak sisters to build that record, don't you?

For Butch Jones, it would be less than a lateral move. It would be a move back and down.

Regarding your 1st statement, you're either fishing for "likes" or you've only been watching college football for a decade.

As to your 2nd point, which conference would be easier to win....the SEC or B1G? Hell, Urban Meyer would have played for a NC in his 1st season had they not been on probation. They won 6 regular season games the prior year.

I wouldn't consider a pile of money with an easier path to success as a step down.

this discussion is silly and pointless, CBJ while I think he has done a great job recruiting he has yet to prove it consistently on the field imo and would have to have a great season to be the front runner at UM

ESPN Radio is saying Butch will leave after this year to take the Michigan job next year. The powers at Tennessee better pay him his worth now with a raise and a couple of more years to his contract. I personally don't think he would leave with all the hard work he has put in to rebuild this team BRICK by BRICK.

If he ever leaves for another program, I personally will punch the next coach to utter the words "dream job" in the throat.

Can we please stop this talk?! I don't want to be depressed all evening. We can't have something else like this happen.

So we've gone from talking about maybe beating Florida in two weeks to obsessing over whether Butch Jones is going to go to Michigan.

Oh, Volnation. Never change.

They have the most wins in major college football.

Has no bearing on current status or difficulty of job today. We as TN fans, who have more wins than anyone since 1950, should know this with our difficult coaching searches over the last several years

Don't fish for likes, and I have probably been around football for more years than you have been alive.

Yes, it is easier to win in the Big 10, exactly my point. If contentment is winning against lesser competition, then that is the conference to go to. But Butch is a man who seems to like a challenge.

He will be at Tennessee for a long time.

But seriously, other than Butch being from Michigan it's not like he is an Alum or have ever coached there. Nobody ever said Spurrier was coming to Tennessee the past two times because he is from Tennessee.

So let me get this straight...

Some of you think Butch is going to leave us for Florida, and then play at Tennessee every other year?!?

The dudes name isn't Kiffin.

As crazy as things have been at UT lately? I wouldn't be a bit surprised anymore. I would hope he wouldn't do that and talk about how Michigan is his dream job and blah blah blah. I don't trust what any football coach says anymore. They are ALL about the money.

This. If UM offers him more than UT then he goes. I hope buyouts don't come back to bite UT in the end.

Uh, that's not true:

1 Oklahoma 562
2 Nebraska 545
3 Ohio State 527
4 Texas 525
5 Alabama 515
6 Michigan 500
7 Southern Cal 498
8 Tennessee 494
9 Florida 489
10 Notre Dame 484

If Tennessee does not beat the every living crap out of Florida this season, I don't know when the circumstances will be better for a win.

Maybe it's winningest percentage. And maybe your data doesn't include vacated wins by Bama, but several commentators have made this point.

Oh, and by the way, you kind of just proved my point. Like Michigan we are in the top 10 in wins, and we are only six wins behind them.

So how is going to Michigan today (which has nothing to do with historic wins and you completely missed my point) not a lateral or slightly downward move? They have 6 more wins than us over the last 64 years and they are one of the few traditional powerhouses who have been as much or more of a dumpster fire than us part of the last fee years?

I still don't see how they are in a better position than us today/this year. Your point of more all time wins, a whopping 6 out of 500 over the last 64 years which is just over 1% more than us automatically makes them a better job than UT how?

If you would have went with the BIG10 is an easier conference to win in argument, I could see that. But they probably (don't know for sure) don't have more talent than us and are probably a year behind us in rebuilding/recruiting

Butch is not leaving Tennessee. The next Michigan coach will be Jim Harbaugh of the 49ers.

"SB Nation looked at college football’s most winningest teams since 2003, and five SEC programs were among the top 15 programs that recorded 100 or more wins. Here’s a look:

1. Boise State 125
2. LSU 117
2. Oklahoma 117
4. Ohio State 115
4. USC 115
6. Texas 109
7. Virginia Tech 107
8. Oregon 106
9. Alabama 105
10. Georgia 104
10. TCU 104
12. Wisconsin 103
13. Florida 102
13. Florida State 102
15. Auburn 100

Is it surprising programs like Michigan, Tennessee, Miami, Clemson and Notre Dame aren’t on the list? All five of those programs have great tradition and a rich history but have struggled over the given time period."

Oh look , I can google too. And neither UT or UM are on this list for the last 11 years...huh, it's like they both haven't been a great program in over a decade. You know, before recruits were 7 or 8 years old and can remember watching games on TV...

Facts work funny ways when they actually are relative to the point I am making:

As of today, Michigan is a lateral or downward move from UT

Last year was a pretty good opportunity to win in the swamp & we know how that turned out. But you're right.

I don't know about that. We're getting better and they are not. As long as we have Butch and they have Muschamp the odds get better every year

This post goes from Butch having them ready for game 4 to leaving for another job? WTF? He isn't going anywhere this year.. 1/3 of the season has been played. Wait until the season is over b/f everyone gets their panties in a wad. Hell,, he might move on.. but my favorite quote is... 90% of the things you worry about never happen and the other 10% you can't do a damn thing about.

So does anyone else notice how the thread topic was completely hijacked by a poster with 2 posts to his credit? We're feeling good about CBJ being our coach and someone starts this dumpster fire and vanishes, leaving us to argue and bicker with each other over whether or not our fears of CBJ leaving are justified.

Congratulations, you've all been trolled.

I actually thought y'all looked pretty good the majority of the game. If UF eliminates turnovers and capitalizes on the turnovers you forced, it could have been a different game. Gotta get points off that fumble recovery when the game was 21-14. I thought both teams played sloppy but Bama clearly got it together in the 2nd half. I still don't like the way we matchup with the Gators. I'm hopeful for ending the streak, but far from convinced it will happen.
