It's toxic. And it's horrible. But, this is one instance I will allow it as I am not confident DW knows how much this BaseVols team means to us unless we're in his ear everyday. He needs to know how big of a screw up it would be to let him go.
I believe he already knows that

We’ve had so many AD’s I forget who did what most of the time…

I think Hart might have hired the track coach, if he did not, the only good thing he did here was Barnes, and that was after a dismal search that ended with Tyndall.

The guy has not been here six months. Typical Tennessee fan negativity. No wonder no one wants to work or coach here. If I were White, Heupel, or Vitello I would be looking for a ticket out of this mess. NegaVols rule.

You’re talking to 1 anonymous poster on a fan forum. Some of our fanbase is negative but the vaaaaaaaast majority is not.

I feel like Currie is getting the last laugh. He was always committed to spring sports and our success right now is his legacy

If you read the job duties of the AD here, the two biggest items are:

A. Budgets (i.e. football making money)
B. Compliance

It's not a popular opinion here but if we have a good football team and no NCAA issues, our AD is a success. We can be Stanford with Spring sports but if football sucks, the AD is a failure..

I agree. I gave Fulmer grief for the football program during his AD tenure but he did inherit and retain V. He does get some "credit" for that.

He hired KJH after picking up where Hart left off too, you know, the guy that tried to get rid of LV’s?

Danny White walked into a pretty decent job, fix football and don’t mess anything else up.

Absolutely none of the spring success is related to DW. The players and coaches were on campus before DW. The basketball team did better before White was hired but his hiring had nothing to do with their downfall in February and March.

Fulmer earned and deserved the blame he got for the football program circling the drain but with that being said, he does earn the credit for the spring sports success this year.

I'm a Coach Fulmer homer, but he didn't hire Tony Vitello and he treaded water when push came to shove on baseball facility improvements. My compliments for the playing surface which was needed.

Can’t really blame Fulmer for not advancing any major facilities projects during the bat flu era.

DW doesn't deserve any of the success or the blame (if it had gone south) for this season. He didn't do anything to augment this team. He walked into a great situation.

Where DW will be judged is his ability to keep it rolling. That's the only thing he should be judged on.
Nah. He was judged the moment he was hired and has been continuously ever since. “Deserve” has nothing to do with it.

He’s been judged for plenty. Mostly for his less than enthusiastic commentary about the fanbase of the school he is the AD for. And his lackluster football hire. He has not been judged for anything else yet. His next real test is on the horizon though, and it will be a bloodbath if he strikes out. That will be 3 big swings and misses for him while making huge money as our AD.

I’m giving him the BOTD for now, and we’ll see what happens. It’s time for him to get something done rather than continue to criticize our fanbase as being the problem.

We disagree on so many semantics...it happens.

You literally never come around the baseball forum….literally no one is judging him for anything baseball related yet.

What do you think he’s being judged unfairly on? I legitimately am curious. He’s only going to be judged harshly if he fails to lock down TV.

And I even simply said I'm not impressed, not that I want the guy canned tomorrow.

I'd be impressed if he hired a real great head coach and didn't bring in his old head coach from his last school. I wouldn't be unimpressed if he could keep his trap shut about the fanbase.

The oversensitivity here is ridiculous.

That fan insulting narrative you diarrhead out is pure classic contrive narrative bs. Who elected you baseball forum councilman and how do you know if I’m “coming around” just because I usually don’t comment? “Literally” everything you posted was your own opinion. CURIOSITY satisfied? If we lose Vitello, it won’t be for lack of effort or focus from the AD. The President and the Chancellor or behind the guy, so cinch up and prepare to not have a say on how long his legacy lasts.

I get it. The Fulmer quotes on baseball facilities were pre Covid. I don't want to misquote, but it was along the lines of "nothing crazy" or 'within reason". Status quo as to where UT valued baseball from the beginning. I'm sure it was passed down from on high.

I’m not electing myself chancellor of anything, you’re just the most bitter poster on Vol Nation. It’s a successful day for the Vols and you come in here complaining about how unfair DW would have been treated if the season went poorly.

Guess what? The season didn’t go poorly! No what if scenarios necessary. It was a huge success. So you tell me I’m drafting some contrived narrative BS when you’re trying to conjure up some scenario that didn’t even happen.

And fair or not fair a large portion of the fanbase had a sour taste in their mouth from when he knocked the fanbase twice about the intense negativity. Fair? Maybe not. But people have the right to feel how they want and a lot of people got upset with the comments.

Perhaps the most "connected" poster on this forum has pointed out over the last eighteen months, ad nauseum, that Fulmer had the boosters hook/line/sinker and the athletics department (aside from football, obviously) primed for success.

And... that's true, right? Look at how wonderfully all of the programs have performed this season with the notable exception of our golden goose.

I think everyone being honest on this forum would take an Alabama-level football dynasty at the expense of literally every other program, and perhaps Danny White can deliver to that end (I refuse to pass judgment after four months), but I'm not ready to attribute any of the current baseball/tennis/golf/et cetera success to Danny until he has to start making some calls that put his $1mm+ salary to the test. Unless I'm mistaken, the first big one is going to be ensuring that UT gets some baseball upgrades and offers Tony a top-five salary; if Tony doesn't accept after all the cards are on the table and jumps to LSU, whatever, but you have to both make the initial enticing offer and have a non-JUCO backup plan if things don't go your way. If this doesn't happen, he's immediately in my bad books.
I’m not a well connected person but the people I do know attribute the positive momentum we have and what they believe is coming to Randy Boyd. We shall see.
