Darren Myles

thanks....If we can get all this players in on the 30th with some commits in their ear too.....it has to help.

"I had a great time at Alabama. The weather was sort of shaky Saturday but it never got so bad that we couldn't do what we needed to do," said Myles who stands 6-foot-2, 180 pounds. "I was hosted by Kareem Jackson. Kareem is a nice guy and a confident guy too. He showed me around town and campus and knew what he was talking about. He couldn't have been a better host.

"There wasn't one thing that stood out about Alabama. I am very comfortable there. I have been there several times in the past for camps and unofficial visits and this sort of tied everything together because we got more into the academics and campus life. Tuscaloosa is a nice city and there is a lot to do for it to be such a small town."
"Coach Saban just flat told me that they would wait for me until Signing Day. I was that big of a priority for them," said Myles. "He told me they need a playmaker at safety and I would fit into their scheme perfectly. He spent time talking with me and my father about academics and how they want everyone to graduate with a degree and how that is their top goal. Coach Saban is an easy guy to talk to. We hit it off pretty well whenever we get face to face."
"Everyone is even at this point, and I still have an official to Ohio State next weekend," said Myles. "I may take an official to Tennessee on the last weekend, but I am not sure yet. Their new staff just got on me pretty late, but I like what Coach Kiffen has to say. I am definitely going to wait until Signing Day to make a decision.

"What sticks out about Alabama to me the most is Coach Saban. He is a player's coach and easy to talk to. He coaches the defensive backs and would be my head coach and assistant coach all in one and that would be pretty nice. They made a great impression this weekend."

Carver-Atlanta safety Darren Myles, one of the state’s top uncommitted prospects, said he is no longer considering Georgia Tech.
“I don’t want to be that close to home,” the 6-foot-1, 175-pound senior said. After a December meeting with Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson, Myles told the AJC he would schedule an official visit with Tech sometime in January.
“I’m going to see what other schools have to offer,” he said.
Myles returned from an official visit to Alabama this weekend. He denied rumors that he was leaning heavily toward the Crimson Tide over LSU.
“It went well,” he said. “I didn’t commit, but I got to meet coach [Nick] Saban and he told me they were willing to wait on my decision.”
With dozens of offers, Myles said he will wait until Signing Day before making a decision. He has taken official visits to Alabama, LSU and Purdue. He has an official visit scheduled for Ohio State next weekend.
Got a recruiting item? Please

Ga Tech out? That probably doesn't bode well for UGA either if he is wanting to get away. Sounds like it's gonna be hard to outdo Bama, but there's always a chance.

Does anyone else think that Saban reminds you of Mr. Woodcock? Just what popped into my head.

i think with the hiring of bamas lb coach and myles' recruiter, we have a very good shot at getting him. hes gonna be a very good safety and he would really like to play alongside berry.

Sounds to me he's covering his bases for when he signs with UT...doesn't want people thinking it was because of Thompson.

"Coach Thompson's loss doesn't affect Darren at all. As a coach, I understand that this profession is a business," said Darren's father and high school coach, Darren Myles Sr. "Coach Thompson is simply looking out for his family which is the reason most coaches make a change.

"We are interested in Alabama because of the academics, academic support and its football program. That is why Darren is considering Alabama. The loss of a single coach doesn't change things as far as the criteria we are looking for in a school."

The whole dad or family in charge of recruiting situation doesn't go well with me. I have an issue of parents getting involved in a decision like this, or at least in the capacity that they are. Making a decision based on family is one thing, having that family make it for you just isn't right. Sounds like dad likes this whole power trip thing.

Well I'm definitely glad Saban isn't boinking my mom...I would have to strangle him with a bed sheet....whoa...that was kind of psychotic!

This is huge! hopefully his pops loves Monte and what we can offer. A good edumacation and a pipeline into the NFL

It's odd Myles Sr. would put UA over TN for academics, when we have a higher graduation rate than they do.

Myles Sr. coached Inky Johnson in high school, and Myles Jr. has made multiple trips to Knoxville to hang out with Inky. There are connnections there.

Atlanta standout Darren Myles, Jr. is planning on being in town this weekend for a visit. Myles was being recruited to Alabama by Lance Thompson before Thompson joined the Tennessee staff and Myles’ interest in the Vols was renewed when he received the first recruiting call made by defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin. Myles knows plenty about the Tennessee tradition and Knoxville. His father coached Inky Johnson in high school and Myles and Johnson have been longtime friends. In fact, Myles has spent some time in Knoxville the past couple of summer’s hanging out with Johnson.
