Darren Myles

if he gets drafted, he is guaranteed $200,000 without ever playing a down in the NFL. with $200k, he can afford to come back to UT for a couple semesters.

I want him back, I just don't understand the argument to stay in school when you can take your professional earnings and return to school at anytime.

I love learning, but if someone handed me 7 figures to leave school, I'd be in another zip code in a matter of hours.

Guess we'll find out.

Seems as though Bradford did just this very thing..

Anyway, back to Myles. I really hope we land this guy. Will be a stud under Monte.

Good. A kid coming from the coaching staff at Carver, Col. will have digressed his football IQ by senior year to his middle school years.

He keeps reiterating he does not want to play close to home, I just hope Knoxville is not to close in his book.
He met mostly with defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, and the coaches reiterated how he can make an early impact,” Myles said. “There was no pressure, but you could tell they would love to have him there.
I don’t want to be that close to home,” he said earlier. “I want to see what other schools have to offer.

There’s a surprising contestant in the recruiting sweepstakes for Carver-Atlanta’s Darren Myles Jr.

Guess who? It’s Kentucky, who will get the final official visit on Friday for one of the nation’s top prospects. Although Myles claims no favorites, Kentucky’s chances seem slim against Alabama and LSU.

“Kentucky was the very first school to offer,” Darren Myles Sr., Darren’s father and coach, confirmed to the AJC on Sunday night. “We always said we would visit because of that, and it is an up and coming program.”

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound safety has already taken visits to LSU, Alabama and Purdue, his father’s alma mater. He just returned from an official visit to Tennessee.

“He met mostly with defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, and the coaches reiterated how he can make an early impact,” Myles said. “There was no pressure, but you could tell they would love to have him there.”

Myles said he will wait until signing day to make a decision but told the AJC that he is no longer considering Georgia Tech.

“I don’t want to be that close to home,” he said earlier. “I want to see what other schools have to offer.”

Last month, Myles said he removed UGA from his list of finalists because he hadn’t heard from the Bulldogs for weeks.- AJC

Just another example of a player not being a lock to anyone until NSD. We might not get him, but for him not to even be on our radar, we definitely got his attention. That's why it is important to get them in for a visit regardless of how serious they are. I'd say our chances are as good as anyones at this point. I bet there at least better than Kentuckys. :)

“That was the case before the Tennessee visit,” Myles Sr. said. “He actually got more out of that visit — out of the staff — than we expected.”

That sound very positive to me.

I like this comment from Myles Sr.---

[“His dad would love to have him in that scheme,” said Myles Sr., referring to himself in the third person.]

I wonder how much his dad got out of the trip after getting to talk D with Monte.

Sr seemed really impressed with Monte. I would like to hear more of what Jr thinks about the visit.
