Dave Hart knows what he's doing?

When Al Golden either a.) turns Miami into a contender or b.) brings UT out of the ashes it is going to be funny to rehash all these threads and posts about him. Random message board posters that look no deeper than the surface end up creating rock solid opinions on candidates. <sarcasam>

If you talk to any football person, who actually has knowledge about Al Golden's coaching, they will tell you he is an absolute top notch coach. But, yeah, just look at nothing but his record without any context. That is a great recipe for success. I am sure that is how Hart is sorting through resumes. He is whiting out the name at the top and the school that they coached at and making his Top 5 based soley on winning percentage.

I agree. Golden is a great coach and time will tell it! I would be happy with the hire but he says he's committed to Miami. He isn't my first pick but he could do a fine job at UT.

I want the best coach we can get. I don't care if he coached at Vandy, Kentucky, Alabama, or even Florida. I want the best coach.

I would love to see Spurrier come home. Anyone who can win, I'm down.

I think you just made me upchuck.

Charlie Strong needs to be the next head coach at UT . He built the Florida defense starting with Zook's last year there and under Meyer, then at USC under Spurrier . He knows how to coach, how to recruit and he inherited a program that had just gone 15-21 at Louisville . Gruden has a 100-85 record in the NFL has not coached in 21 years at the college level, and won the super bowl his first year at TB with Dungy's players ! If you take Grudens first year in TB away he is 88-81 in his head coaching career ! This gets Vol fans excited ?

Right. Because they want to end their careers by tanking a rival program.... <sarcasm>

Assuming you are or was a student... did you trust any of your teachers? Most probably went to a different school than they were teaching at. Did you doubt their sincerity when supporting your school's athletic teams?

Best response I have ever read to the people who hate Hart and Cheek just because hey went to a rival school.

Hope I don't offend anyone but in my opinion there are going to be at least one external factor (if not more) at play with this hire. While the AD is the one front and center and responsible for the new coaching search, I'm thinking some $$$$ backers and supporters are going to have some input one way or the other. Don't get me wrong, whatever process is done to accomplish it, I can only hope the new coach is "qualified and untarnished" and not someone thrust upon the program in a last ditch effort to appease. He needs to bring with him a proven track record in recruitment and program strength. Don't settle for just anything in a short period of time if a top notch experienced name can be reined in. Just my opinion. Oh by the way, still wondering who the VIP was who was picked up at the airport yesterday in the Escalade according to another VN post. GO VOLS!!!

I'm still worried Hart will screw this up. With Dooley being fired on the 18th, Hart should have been in full gear and I can't help but think he is sitting on his A$$ while the 6 other schools are pushing for the high profile coaches.

I'm not sure anyone knows what we have in Dave Hart.Unless some of you guys are his new best friend. The right hire in whatever time frame will answer most of the questions

If Hart doesn't hire Gruden....then we'll know he doesn't know what he's doing and UT's future will probably reflect the recent past.......we are at this point unfortunately

This may sound trivial, but my wife and I were watching a rerun of one of Hart's press conferences and my wife told me she could notice that Hart's forehead is botoxed and he uses hair coloring. I asked her how she could tell and she stated it was rather obvious. I never really noticed until she said something, but if that is indeed true, for some reason that concerns me a little. It may be just me, but somebody that concerned about their looks might not be a good AD. However, if Gruden is hired, I will botox my whole body to show some support.

Yea but apparently he got the players to believe in his way and didn't his Oakland Raiders team the year before make it to the super bowl? It might have been Dungy's players but Gruden's staff got them on board quick to be able to win the Super Bowl in one year under him. I have no doubt that it would take longer to get college kids on the same page as quick but he can get it done.

Relax, Hart is a baby boomer and appearance is everything. Using Botox and being a good AD are mutually exclusive.

When we talk about coaches and i hear names like Al Golden, Gundy, Tuberville, that worries me. If we are going to get back atop the SEC we have to have a guy like Jon Gruden, Stoops (Oklahoma). You need someone to get this fan base excited. Al Golden not going to do it. With the way Alabama,Florida,LSU,Georgia and so on recruits they are not comming back down to us. We have to get to the level those teams are. A guy like Gruden can bring in 4 and 5 star recruits that will get us back on top. And get some of these good instate players back to UT. I have read that Dooley did not do a very good job at that either.
