Dave Hart Mr. Controversy

Keep reading. I said administrators hired to represent the university should take advice from marketing and branding experts. That can be corporate partners or academics in appropriate departments. After taking all of that into account, they should decide without influence from a vocal minority.

The post I read said: "Wouldn't you want marketing experts and multi-billion dollar retailers deciding?" No where did I see you say "administrators hired by the university." Even if you did, it doesn't change the meaning. You're still saying the university "should take advice from marketing and branding experts." If that's the case, we don't need an administration. Let's just let the Nike CEO decide who our next men's basketball coach is?

Nice. Sorry I didn't catch that. Check that, vol66, I've got a new source for spelling and grammar.

As much as I love busting people for grammar and spelling, I have an iPhone, and it makes all sorts of auto-corrects that I don't want and that make no sense, including replacing "Cronan" with "Cronin."

We should probably all cut one another some slack in these days of electronic confusion, because it's only a matter of time before our gadget makes us look dumb. :)

Meanwhile, I still hate what Dave Hart is doing to the Lady Vols. Argue on! :hi:

Lawsuit allegations made against Dave Hart

1997: Florida State women's basketball coach Christianne Gobrecht accused the university and Hart of gender discrimination in a federal lawsuit for failing to fund men's and women's teams equitably, maintaining worse facilities for women's teams and treating female coaches and athletes differently than men's athletes. FSU reached a settlement agreement with Gobrecht.

2011: Former University of Alabama cheerleading coach Debbie Greenwell accused Hart and the university of retaliating against her for seeking equitable pay for female coaches. Greenwell was later charged with embezzling funds from the cheerleading squad, and her suit was dismissed.

2012: Debby Jennings, a former Tennessee associate athletics director for media relations, accused Hart and the university of gender discrimination in a federal lawsuit. Jennings later settled for $320,000.

2012: Three former Tennessee women's athletics department staffers filed a federal lawsuit accusing Hart and the university of gender discrimination for firing a disproportionate number of female staffers during the department's reorganization and for giving higher-paying jobs to less-qualified male counterparts from the men's athletics department. The suit is slated for trial in June.

So our boy Sandy who claims to be all about the free market believes that female coaches should be paid equal to their male counterparts despite their inability to generate the same level of revenue?

Odd....
