Our staff may be great recruiting wise, but can they realistically snatch athletes out of Florida and Texas from the hands of Meyer and Brown?

Yes, Esp on the defensive side of the ball...Recruits will be dying to play for the elder Kiffin due to his NFL experience...Lane is quite a offensive guy so there should be no problem going into enemy territory to steal a few here and there...This is an all star staff so i am sure recruits are following this and should be drooling right now at the thought of coming here to play for those guys...I can't wait to see signing day and how many break commitments to other schools and come to us..We ahve done well on that in the past :eek:k:

As anal as the ol' ball coach is about his QBs, I highly doubt he'd turn them over to an incompetent. I actually take a lot from the respect that the OBC showed him by doing so.

And you can't judge his QB coaching by SCs QB play of late. We all know there is more to QB performance than the QBs, like protection, WRs, etc... What I've seen of SC, their entire offense is putrid.

I say we cut him some slack and take on a hopeful, wait and see additude with our new probable QB coach.

Kiffin is a WR developer. Reaves will be the QB coach. :hi:

Kiffin is a QB coach...he coached the QBs at Fresno his senior year.

I would imagine he would probably do the QB coaching and possibly call the plays, ala spurrier, regardless of who holds the official OC or QB coach title.

I didn't see this posted anywhere. Said he stepped down to "pursue other coaching opportunities". Wonder where that'll be? lol

Hunt and Reaves Leave Gamecock Staff

COLUMBIA, S.C. (November 30, 2008) - University of South Carolina
head coach Steve Spurrier announced today that two of his assistants
are no longer members of the Gamecock coaching staff.

John Hunt has been relieved of his duties effective immediately.
Coach Hunt has been on the Gamecocks' staff for the past four seasons
coaching the offensive line. Hunt has worked for Coach Spurrier
since 1999, first at the University of Florida, then with the
Washington Redskins, before joining the Gamecock staff in 2005.

"We appreciate the job John Hunt has done here at Carolina for the
past four seasons," said Coach Spurrier, "but we felt like we needed to
make a change in that area. He's a good person and we wish him the best."

"I don't agree with the decision, but I respect Coach Spurrier's
decision," said Hunt. "I appreciate the opportunity he gave me. I
enjoyed my time in South Carolina and wish the Gamecocks the best
in the future."

David Reaves, who has been at Carolina for the past seven years, has
resigned to pursue other coaching opportunities. Reaves has been a
full-time member of the South Carolina coaching staff for the past
five years after two seasons as a graduate assistant. He was given
the duties of recruiting coordinator in February of 2006 and was
handed the full-time quarterback coaching duties in the spring of 2007.

"We also appreciate the job David has done," said Coach Spurrier. "He
had a wonderful opportunity presented to him and will be moving on.
We wish him the best."

The Gamecocks finished the 2008 regular season with a 7-5 record and
a 4-4 mark in the Southeastern Conference.

Does hiring all his family members mean that he is going to be as loyal to his coaches as Fulmer was? Not so sure that this will be all good.

Davis Reaves(Kiffin's Brother in law)resigned from 5 years of coaching South Carolina as of yeterday, and is reported to have joined Kiffin's already. He was a QB's coach and a recruiting coordinator. Rival's.com ranked him in the top 25 in recruiting, and contributed in South Carolina's top 10 recruiting class a few years ago. I'm very proud of Kiffin in landing this guy.
