Dawinists standing on the panic button.

You have no idea. One of our "best" families in the church had the ideal daughter in the youth group in the ideal high school relationship.

Turns out while her mom was busy telling all of the "bad" kids (like myself) to stop holding hands and hugging our girlfriends the daughter was busy getting knocked up on a mission trip.

That's just one of the reason's I do not look to people in any walk off to affect my thoughts or beliefs; because people screw up, it's what we do best.

I went to Abilene Christian for one semester because they wanted me to play football. I lived off campus in the spring of what should have been my Sr year in HS.(I graduated early) The first club I went to, I saw the Deacon's son from my church....who offered me....ummm...a good time.

Bottom line...people are good and people are bad. It doesn't necessarily matter what side of the tracks you come from.

"steers and queers"

HAHAHA... Sometimes that's not far off though. Which is kind of ironic that a lot are overweight yet condemn any alcohol consumption as if being fat isn't as bad... but another story for another day I guess.

they forget gluttony is a sin too.

Youth Pastor cheated on his wife, with a young BOY in his youth group.....how is that for sick?

i know similar stories. hyprocrisy turned a lot people from going to church unfortunately.

you attended a Country Club church...at my church:
if you missed communion, they would hunt you down on Sunday afternoon and bring it to you, no organ OR piano ONLY singing, if you did not pray for forgiveness EVERY night and you died in your sleep....Burn in HELL!

sounds like where i went.

Truth, and those people are going to have to answer for it one day. I was very judgmental in high school, but over the course of college, personal stuff and thinking for myself have really changed. And I'm very thankful for that.

Was he from Jackson TN?

Sounds like the exact thing my wifes youth minister did...

When I was in highschool there were two youth ministers at my church...one right after the other...that knocked up their girlfriends...

That probably turned me off from church more than anything...

I know for a fact...based on the timing of the birth of each child...that both youth ministers were giving me absolute hell over my refusal to wait until I was married while they were nailing their girlfriends

Kind of like Bristol Palin now campaigning for abstinence...

Nope...FL

at least those two were with females!

wow, the language there was so strong that I took it as gospel immediately.

Well, unlike the supernatural explanation crowd, certainties are rare in the scientific community.

This shows nothing more than all you need is sugar, ammonia, cynamide, phosphate, and sunlight....all of which were abundant in the early stages of earth...and you have the makings of a reasonable and likely process from which life can start.

I read two paragraphs and in that time all I saw was "they think", "what might be", "they assume" etc. Certainly nothing to write home about.

It is probably just me......... but you think it is silly for a supernatural being to create the world but it is perfectly reasonable for sugar, ammonia, cynamide, phosphate and sunlight to ooze us into existence.

Being certain and being wrong is a huge liability in these circles. Of course they will use language like this.

Because some religous person says "they know" Muhammed ascended to heaven, all of a sudden gives it more credibility?

Sure. And in fact, if in enough abundance, it probably happened more than once before it took off.

Every bit as credible as life came from the primordial ooze.

I can buy into a lot of stuff, but that crap is just silly. I can buy the earth/oceans containing a lot of iron ore and that is how the earth was started but not that stuff.

Maybe if they just threw out all the evidence and said there findings were based on faith, and supernatural phenomena it would be easier to buy into for you?
