Dawinists standing on the panic button.

Southern Baptist get a bad rap because every one believes we are....

No offense, but I think you guys get a bad rap because you have some real jerks in your midst. Sure, every group has them, but still... I grew up a little all over, and my time in the South with Southern Baptists and Church of God types was not positive. If you didn't fall into lock step with their beliefs, you were jeered at and, ironically, persecuted. That's PERSONAL experience, and I am not even an atheist or agnostic.

I'm waiting, which wars?

Hang on, you guys are infinately smarter than I am and I know something that you do not????????????

I am a silly God lover...

Seriously, Tolkein plagarized the battle for Minis Tirith after one of the battles of a war over science. The whole Rohirrim flank attack is directly taken from a seige and this particular king and his army flanking them and breaking the seige.

None taken, you grew up around Indepedent Missionary Baptists, legalists, who thought they were SBC.

I looked it up. Once again, their seems to be a temporal aspect that is overlooked. Even if cultures had things revealed them and then rejected them, is it fair to hold the following generations responsible when they didn't get that same opportunity? Also, what of moral non-Christian traditions that don't practice the many things alluded to in the text, such as Muslims or Hindus? Japan could not be said to be any more depraved than western Christian lands historically.

Hmm, I don't know. An interesting passage, for sure.

I :clapping:you for reading it. I take the words in the Bible as divinely inspired. Therefore I do not try to apply my own inferior logic to the words that are given.(the Bible tells us that ONEONE understands God)
You are obviously a deep thinker and I will not try to convince you with anything other than scripture.
I have lots of questions to ask God one day. Right now, i just live by faith.

That is sad. Those people will answer for the way that they have lived.
I grew up in the most legalistic church on the planet. I thank God everyday that he lead me to my wife who helped me to read and study the Word for myself.

I may have you beat.

:eek:k:

Well my youth minister cheated on his wife with his secretary when I was in high school so eat it.

It's too bad people have to mess things up, even in a church.

You have no idea. One of our "best" families in the church had the ideal daughter in the youth group in the ideal high school relationship.

Turns out while her mom was busy telling all of the "bad" kids (like myself) to stop holding hands and hugging our girlfriends the daughter was busy getting knocked up on a mission trip.

That's just one of the reason's I do not look to people in any walk off to affect my thoughts or beliefs; because people screw up, it's what we do best.

Just organ and piano.

We weren't allowed to clap.

Our pastor preacher every other week on not having fun in church.

you attended a Country Club church...at my church:
if you missed communion, they would hunt you down on Sunday afternoon and bring it to you, no organ OR piano ONLY singing, if you did not pray for forgiveness EVERY night and you died in your sleep....Burn in HELL!
