DB Recruiting Board....

He'll take both Marcus and Thomas. Wilcox has been on Marcus since he came here. The staff evaluated Thomas at camp and was really impressed with his numbers. Thomas might not blow ppl away but he has great size, strength and speed and the staff is looking at him as a corner. Wilcox loves the 5 DB sets so I'm thinking Thomas won't be a starter but will be the main Nickelback and for that position he's got great size and speed.

In the Weekly Whispers on Rivals it says we still lead for Countess. This is the craziest scenario, yet one that doesn't seem to be much of an issue. It's almost as though the staff has just about everyone even and will take the 2-3 who jump on board first. All those who say UT leads need to make a decision quickly or they'll be playing ball somewhere else.

It is amazing how many quality DB's we have on our board. I really wish that was the case with our DT situation. If we do not land Clear, do we have another legit fall back option for tight end?

Hubbs is really starting to think Tennessee might not want Dixon anymore.

IMO thats a good thing.

Assume Loften qualifies and we land King.
That gives us 3 S (Martin, Randolph, Loften) and 2 CBs (Coleman, King).
We'd have room for 1 more with Dixon, Thomas, and Marcus on the board.
I think Marcus is the best overall player of those 3, but I'd rather take a 3rd CB than a 4th S.
Sucks about Jones committing to Bama - would've loved him as the 3rd CB in the class.

I saw that. It is a good thing. He said the same thing about King two days ago as well. Sounds like he is down the list and may no longer be a take.

I would love to see them get Countess. He is a big-time football player and very physical.

Countess and Loften could finish the class as far as the secondary now...

Wilcox is doing a great job building depth. It does seem somewhat shocking how few stud tackles we have lined up when most of the 4 and 5 star kids would start as freshmen.

As I said before, following our DB recruiting is the most confusing thing. "He's #1 on the board. No, way we don't want him he's way down the list. He recently listed us on top. He committed to Bama" Shiza

It is confusing with all the mis-information out there.
I'd lean towards what Hubbs has to say.

This is what he's said recently.

1. Thomas is high on the board at Corner.

2. Marcus is high on the board at Safety.

3. They absolutely want to re-sign Loften

3. Dixon is unlikely to be re-signed. Sounds like his grade situation is not good.

4. As of 2 days ago they are not really pushing hard for King.

I haven't seen much mention from Brent on Countess but you would have to think he'd be a definite take. Not many corners out there with this physical style of play.

I dont understand how King goes from being the #1 DB on the board to us not wanting him anymore? Hubbs & PF have said at one point King was the #1 DB.

I know it's recruiting and it's the nature of the beast...but Hubbs' opinion on alot of recruits changes on an almost weekly basis...it's makes you wonder how much it's really worth if you're currently paying for it

I just dont ever remember seeing Hubbs say King was the #1 DB on the board.

Now he's consistently said they really like Thomas and Marcus a lot at corner and safety respectively, but I dont remember ever seeing him say things like that about King.

The DB board keeps trimming down. The only players were in it with now are King, Thomas, Orta, Marcus, & Countess.

Give me King, Countess, & Marcus & I'll be happy.

I've tried asking Hubbs about that numerous of times & he wont answer me, but I know he atleast once said King was #1 on the board.

I know he has said we like Thomas alot for his speed.

Now that you mention it...I've always heard it from LV who said it came from Hubbs...I've never heard it straight from trh horses mouth though

I don't remember ever saying Hubbs said he was #1 on the board, but I do remember Hubbs saying he was at the top. I don't think I ever said anything come from Hubbs on King either.

Bryant and X say he is #1 on the board.

Buck and Swan Man are closer to the situation than anyone and they say the staff considers King a must get. They say we want him bad. Most of what I'm going on is coming from these 2.

It isn't "he's starting to think" that. He always thought that.

He has thought that both before and after Dixon and Wilcox said the exact opposite.

IMO LV it's a good thing, Young basically took Dixons spot ( as a KR/PR ).

I'll take Randolph, Martin, and Loften at safety, with Marcus as a fallback option if Loften doesn't qualify

I'll take Coleman, King, and Countess at corner, with Dixon and Thomas as fallback options if we can't land King or Countess

I just can't see us taking more than 6 DBs with our needs at DT, LB, DE, and OL

Regardless...I think it's obvious that nobody...including all the people that you mentioned above...know for sure how this staff wants to finish up with DB's in this class...

Anything we hear on this subject is almost certainly just speculation...even when it comes from the people above
