It was more along the lines of "I like Elarbee, but let's pump the brakes on anointing him as the best in the business, YET."Recruiting to the level of their programs. Ellarbee with MTSU, Mizzou, UCF and a rebuilding UT under NCAA investigation. You’re right…NOT COMPARABLE.
I thought this exchange began with you posting that you like Ellarbee but WISH that Sam Pittman became available because he’s a great coach and recruiter. If you jumped into the middle of this conversation and I wrongly attributed that quote to you, I humbly apologize…but opinion is unchanged. Pittman is a good OL coach and recruits to the level of his program…like Ellarbee. The learning curve required for him to teach blocking schemes in Heupel’s offense would be unproductive time.
I've never propped him up as the best in the business...just the best we've had since Fulmer plied his trade there. If one wanted to claim that Pittman proved more AT TENNESSEE in the less than one year sample, I'd never agree with them.It was more along the lines of "I like Elarbee, but let's pump the brakes on anointing him as the best in the business, YET."
Then I gave an example of Pittman. I thought he was probably the best example, because even though he had a terrible OL this year, he's proven it multiple times. The peter principle just makes it hard for people to respect coaches and their pasts.
