Who do you think will win?

I think Mayweather is trying to hard to get into De la Hoya head.

I agree, but I don't think it is working. Mayweather has shown himself to be the punk-thug I always asumed he was.

Ask Vargas how well that approach worked out.

That approach works much better for boxers with actual talent. My guess is, if Floyd wants advice about hammering the Pyrite Boy, he'll call Hopkins or Trinidad.

de la hoya baby. i hate his sorry rearend, but he is going to knock that punk mayweather out. mayweather has never fought anybody in the class of de la hoya, castillo is the closest and i still say castillo was robbed in the first fight. you have to go with the guy who pretty much would fight anybody if the money was there.

Perenially overated Zab Judah had his way with Mayweather for a large portion of their fight....and then gave it way. He has been very well managed to this point in his career, but he's definitely not invicible.

Mayweather is for a surprise. Oscar may be man-pretty,but he's no pushover. He always seems to be at his best in really big fights......Trinidad notwithstanding.

Yeah, he looked great against the Executioner. He was real impressive against Shane Moseley. Every good fighter De La Hopeless has faced has beaten him.

Mayweather may well be a punk/thug, but he is damn good. The one thing these 2 have in common is never beating a great fighter in their prime.

'Boro vol brought up the Judah fight...Zab fought aggressively for the first 3 1/2-4 rounds, but ran out of gas via Floyd's fast feet and counters...4 rounds does not qualify as "large portion of the fight".

That said, The only fighter who had a good chance of defeating Floyd was J.L. Castillo, an Iron Chinned brawler with a suicidally aggressive mentality. I think this is the way to beat a great ring general like Mayweather, case in point, Ricky Hatton TKO'ing Kostya Tszyu, neglecting technical boxing, rushing in, eating one on the grill to throw several power punches to the body.

Oscar has never won a fight like this as the 'brawler', and i have no reason to believe he will now. Maybe, though, Maybe, Oscar will use his size and reach to an advantage, and rush Floyd towards the end of the rounds, absorbing the impending head shots to land good power shots to the body, in order to slow Mayweather's feet.

This won't happen however, as despite the pomp and circumstance, De La Hoya will be outclassed from the opening bell.

Despite Golden Boys' reputation of promoting fixed fights (see the Barrera/Marquez card) I'm still rooting for Oscar to beat Floyd, but I'm going to say it will be a stoppage in the 10th or 11th, with Mayweather the victor....than we can finally have Mayweather/Margarito

I didn't realize this many people still cared about boxing.

Most of us probably fought as kids, i dunno...I'm the only white boxing fan at work, i learn to hablas espanol so i can talk about the fight game, its a shame that the sport has dropped from the mainstream....no matter what anyone says, its still better than "fighting"

I think the Golden Boy can still lay a "golden" butt whoopin' on that punk.

The last guy to try and play head games with ODLH was Fernando Vargas. Vargas called ODLH a Ricky Martin impersonator and said that they could fight in the streets and he could sell the DVD.

Of course, ODLH owned him in the ring.

I have more respect for ODLH than a poseur like Roy Jones because Oscar doesn't dodge fighters. He's stepped up and fought the likes of B-Hop, Sugar Shane, Tito, Ike Quartey, Julio Chavez (a washed up Chavez admittedly), and Sweet Pea.

Pretty Boy Floyd is fastly building a reputation as the next Roy Jones Jr., and that ain't no compliment. Roy is the total opposite of a courageous fighter like ODLH. Pretty Boy Floyd will get his chance to get his first real fight and shake that RJJ rep...

now hat what would mayweather have done if he had given up basically 20 pounds to hopkins. mosely on the other hand gave de la hoya fits the same way forrest gave mosely fits the way mayorga gave forrest fits. boxing is very unpredictable.

That 'punk' is best p4p fighter in the world

if you mean the best fighter that never fought anybody then he may be, but this is far and away his toughest fight. it is the first elite fighter he's faced, which means he isn't the best p4p fighter.

Oscar's best win was against Vargas, not showing much

true, but he fought mosely, trinidad, hopkins, vargas, mayorga, quartey ( a fight i thought should have been a draw). the list is pretty good, now for floyd on the other hand, castillo at lightweight and that is it. not very impressive. i can't even put judah in there he couldn't last 2 rounds with tyzu.

You're right about him losing those fights. but I have to give him so respect for not dodging competition like Roy Jones Jr. I guess I'm not used to fighters nowadays actually fighting...

Roy Jones beat Bernard Hopkins.

When B-Hop had just gotten out of prison. You didn't see that dodger wanting to fight him after he beat Tito, did you?

Please, Hat. You don't even want to swim in these waters when it comes to that clown Roy Jones. Besides the fact that B-Hop would whip him TODAY or anytime in the past 5 years, Roy hasn't fought ONE decent fighter in 9 years. Not one...
