Death of a Program

Mike Hamilton....that is all. Plus we have Alums from our 2 main rivals running the whole show. What did everybody think was gonna happen. Bring in a coordinator from Bama...what happens? We have the 111th worst defense in the nation. Bring in a Vol to coach running backs after we were 2nd to last in rush last year...what happens. We vastly improve in the running game. We need orange blood to take back over this program or we are gonna stay down like we are now. JMO

WHY THE FU** do people keep saying we have hit "rock bottom" ?! We have to lose to UK next week first.

We are the first team in college football to self impose the death penalty and the NCAA still continue to give us penalties.....smh

I think we can officially say that we have hit rock bottom.

I sure hope the wizards of smart in Knoxville have a really good back up plan, this program is on the verge of death.

If they screwq the next hire up they might as well sell pieces of Neyland stadium. Anyone that thinks any of Fulmers years were this bad is an idiot.

I agree those 9-10 win seasons under Fulmer do not look so bad now huh?

This has got to be the worse defense I have ever seen on a football field! Be careful who you hire...an OC got Fulmer fired and a DC is going to get Dooley fired!

Hats off to Coach Franklin and Vandy. He has those guys thinking they can do anything. Not to mention he is blowing UT's doors off in recruiting. Great hire for them.

F Franklin.. he is nothing.. he is a scumbag and he and the scumbag vandy fans deserve each other.. id rather lose every game than have that loser as a coach

Those of you who believe this is the death of the program need to step back from the ledge. You are either very young or have no recollection of history. Bama went through many years of terrible football, Florida in the 80's was on par with UK. Look at some of the most resent resurgent teams like Fla State, Notre Dame and even KState (who did get beat tonight). But you don't even have to look that far, look at the team who beat UT tonight, are you going to tell me that a program with such a rich tradition like UT will never again pass up a johhnie come lately like Vandy?!! Snap out of it! Yeah UT sucks right now and has for some time, but it will be the best coaching opportunity available and it will be filled by someone who understands what it is, and is hungery enough take it back to where it belongs. Sometimes you guys don't realize don't realize the level of opputunity that UT is. Name another school out there with the rich tradition, fan base, facilities, and conference that is just waiting for a coach to take it to the promise land? Heads up Volnation, it's just a matter of time!

I been saying that since early this year. UT football is dead, it's over. Recruiting will fall off to the point that only 2 star or lower recuits will be all we can get. Then money will stop coming in and the ad will have to liquidate assets. It's been a good run since the 1700s but all things come to an end eventually. Vandy is rising to take our place.

Sadly we have become Ky. That's a sad sad statement.

Click, click...BOOM!

More like the suicide of a program, cause lets face it, we (UT) did it to ourselves.

My first UT game in Neyland Stadium was in '64. Seen great, good, fair & a couple of bad teams...but nothing as miserable as this bunch of Vols in 2012. I was there tonight as the commode-doors embarassed the University of TN football team. Just awful.

Most of the Vandy fans are actual Alumni of Vandy at least. Unlike many of us on this board. Simply because they are fans of another team doesn't make them scum. Relax, it's not the end of the world.

Pretty sure it was a fake punk, with Palardys 5 yard girl throw. Or maybe I missed the fake field goal, cause I stooped watching the game.

Yeah. Fake punt on your own 10 yard line, with the punter rifling a 5-yard pass into the dirt on 4th and 10.

Whatta call, Doolz. Fxcking brain surgery there.

I live in ACC/Big 10 territory and Tennessee is absolutely thought of as a joke right now. People laugh out loud at me when they see me wearing Tennessee gear. Part of it is their hate for the SEC....the other part is the joy they take in seeing an Old Guard SEC program DIE.

...remember Michigan a few years ago? Neither one of those conferences and related schools are immune to what has happened to us. It can happen to anyone. People need some perspective and i hope that pompous attitude bites them all in the butt...

Yeah we're not good, (especially our performance the past three weeks) but you have to look at our freaking schedule...at least we have somewhat of an excuse when we suck. We'll be back soon.

Tennessee isn't dead. Every football program has gone through rough periods but has survived and then thrived. Tennessee football will be back.

The 85 year old guy up in the stands tonight who has been a die hard fan for 70 years isn't so sure he has enough time.:hi:

Who is our Brady Hoke? Good luck.

Michigan/Tennessee is not a completely analogous scenario at all. Michigan is one of the strongest Universities in the world with an endowment that dwarfs ours. 8 billion to 1 billion.

I'm not chicken little....but I am proposing people temper their expectations for several years moving forward.

Lets go back to say a couple years before we fired Phil, by the way that was the biggest mistake this school has ever made.
This football program has struggled since Phil was let go and it's going to struggle for a quite awhile, we have to get some players who want to play no matter who the QB is
