Death of a Program

You mean like Tuscalooser, Gainesville, Starkville, Auburn, Oxford and Fayeteville? Trust me, if you had been to any of those places you would not being saying that. I would put Knoxville right there with Athens, Columbia and Lexington. The city of Knoxville is not the cause of our issues. It's the shi**y coaching, former AD and awful admin that are the root of the problem. UT has top 5 facilities.

Lexington is a nice enough town but it's still in Kentucky; every other town on that list of opposing schools is a cesspool.

I agree.

Look at what we have accomplished since hiring dooley.

1. Losing a 27 game winning streak to Kentucky.

2. Losing a 28 game winning streak to Vandy.

3. Losing a 14 game winning steak at Vandy.

4. The worse defensive record in school history.

Dooley does suck if he screws up two losing streaks to one team, granted you have to overlook 2005 for this to be true

no way gruden would want this

I'm not suggesting Gruden would take the job or that he would be my first choice. However, I do want to point out one thing. The secret of being a good coach is who you follow. Whoever takes this job is going to look like a genius.

I'm on the fire Dooley train. But I don't think this program will ever be what it once was. As much as we love knoxville, it simply isn't nearly as attractive to 18 year olds as some of the other big programs. On top of that, no big coach is going to come here. Sorry boys, but that's the truth.

I prefer to hold out hope.

Vandy beat us in 2005 but point taken

The new verse to "Rocky Top" - original and you heard it here first.

Once there was a team on Rocky Top,
Once they knew how to win.
Fans used to fill old Neyland up,
It’s been some time since then.
Rocky Top, you’ll always be,
Home sweet home to me.
Good old Rocky Top,
Now get rid of Dooley.

This has got to be the worse defense I have ever seen on a football field! Be careful who you hire...an OC got Fulmer fired and a DC is going to get Dooley fired!

People can say what they want but Fulmer got Fulmer fired and Dooley is going to get Dooley fired.

The slide in our program happened under Fulmer with slip in talent, trouble with discipline and lack of player development. Now whether it was from the emergence of smaller programs or the game passed Fulmer by I do not know. when Cutcliffe came back and Fulmer said that now he knows the team will be disciplined was enough for me to know that he was not in it like he used to be.
Ultimately coaching decisions are on the head coach and if something is not going right then the HC has to be the leader and right the ship which Dooley obviously does not have the ability to do that.

Yea...Fulmer has zero ties to the current state and even Kiffin has just small amount of what he left. Sure D.D came in a very bad situation...like the11th hour and already two weeks behind recruiting. But three years later there should be some modest improvement but that SEC record is as dismal as any in UT History. Time to move forward...

I been saying that since early this year. UT football is dead, it's over. Recruiting will fall off to the point that only 2 star or lower recuits will be all we can get. Then money will stop coming in and the ad will have to liquidate assets. It's been a good run since the 1700s but all things come to an end eventually. Vandy is rising to take our place.

Except for the vandy rising part, I agree.

You never want to be the man that replaces the man. You always want to be the third man in the coaching carosel, much easier road for the third man.
