I went with 9-3, and a nice bowl. I think we will be playing politics to get into the playoffs, which won’t be in our control and could go either way.

Queue the Tony Vitello rant about the definition of success. Ask Blake Burke his thoughts on it.

Fans will paint their team into a corner with expectations that are unrealistic from the jump. And then they'll be disappointed and grousing when the team performs to it's talent level, experience and ability.

I don't vote in these kind of polls. It's an exercise in futility. Let's see what the team earns as the season progresses.

Y’all’s schedule is no walk in the park! Making the Playoff would be a great season IMO. Everyone is talking about how good we (UGA) will be this season, but our schedule is brutal as well. I’ll be happy if we end the regular season with a Playoff birth without being too beat up. I’m afraid getting beat up is going to be a big problem for many of our good teams in the SEC this season.
Completely agree. Ohio State has a cakewalk. Meanwhile the SEC will be beating each other up all season.

Absolutely, and fans of the B1G fuss about us only playing 8 conference games! Like their schedule is so tough! It’s completely ridiculous! I’m glad we are all done with divisions. The B1G has been a joke in their western division, Iowa, a good team with absolutely no offense, was in their championship game last season! I’m so glad you guys tuned them up in the bowl.

I’m no fan of the way the SEC is scheduled the next few seasons, some have it much easier than others. Like MISSOURI!!! But collectively it’s much tougher than the B1G.

Anything less than a playoff spot will be a failure.

If that happens, CJH needs to be looking at the clock. It’s unfortunate but, the major success he had in year two set a very high president!

I understand your point, but the SEC is tough. I wouldn’t throw away a good coach like CJH so easily. Kirby had a great year two, but it was his sixth season before he finally won it all. I would caution patience for now, unless the wheels inexplicably fall off. Just my opinion.

Edit: I do think you guys can make the Playoff, but it isn’t the end of the world if you don’t so far as CJH is concerned IMO.

We make him take a sabbatical before we go that far.....

Beat two of OU, Alabubba, UGA….win playoff game, finish top ten. Work towards Natty Nico’s senior year. SEC Champs his Junior year.

Beat the absolute dogsh** out of Kentucky and Vanderbilt.

All else is gravy.

It will be successful if Peyton Manning stops by my house to light up a cigar together. Anything short of that, meh.....

I would consider 8 wins a failure
I’d be a little disappointed with 8 myself but I also understand we have a QB who hasn’t seen a ton of action. Losing 4 regular season games means we likely lost to someone we were favored to beat though so I’m with you. Football is a really funny game though so we shall see. I’m thinking we go 10-2. I just asked about what that poster thought 8 meant because they addressed everything except 8 wins so I thought it was funny.

Paraphrasing here, but Vince Lombardi said by striving for perfection you can obtain excellence.

Also, just because Vegas expects us to perform a certain way doesn’t mean we have to judge anything barely over THEIR expectations as success. 9 wins to me would not be failure, but I still wouldn’t call it success. I would bet our players have a higher vision of success themselves.

What the coaching staff and players expect and what we expect and will accept as a successful season are apples and oranges. I would be greatly disappointed if the team didn't fully expect to win every game they play and have as their goals the SEC title and a playoff run, which should be the case every season.

As a fan, we can be a little more realistic and understand that with a brand new QB with one start under his belt and new starters at many critical positions, plus a secondary that is still a work in progress, an 'all or nothing' goal is a recipe for disappointment.

Nine wins and a bowl win is a very reasonable goal given the schedule and thinness in certain roster areas, while ten wins with a playoff appearance and possibly one playoff win would be a rousing success, especially with the recruiting victories and the talent coming in '25 and '26. Anything beyond that would be icing on the cake.

Like it on not, these expectations are higher than they should be because of the CWS Championship. You don’t think the football program/AD wants to secure both in the same year???

Yes they do. Georgia and Ohio State have national championship or bust expectations every season. Same with Bama when Saban was there.

If Nico is a generational QB then our expectations should be the same. It's national championship or bust. The funny thing is if you listened to all the interviews with the players this year during media day they were saying the same thing. Our team expects to win the national title this year or it'll be a huge disappointment to them. As fans we should hold the same expectations.

I would fully expect the players and coaches to have those kinds of goals and expectations. Anything less means the coaches aren't doing their job.

As fans, our expectations will vary based on the results. Like someone said earlier, if we're unbeaten going to Athens, the expectations are a hell of a lot different than if we had lost to OU and Bama going there.

But going by your parameters, the season essentially ended after the Bama loss, and every season of your life aside from '98 has been a failure. Why bother investing your time, money, and emotion into something that will let you down 99% of the time? I can think of a hundred better ways to spend my time.

We got some delusional ass UT fans voting...at least early on.

Success is accomplishing what you are reasonably expected to accomplish. The vegas over/under for UT wins regular season is 8.5 games. Success is winning 9 games. Thats a rational, reasonable expectation starting a freshman QB with 1 college start, with only 1 proven RB on the roster and an all new secondary on defense with 4 new starters out of 5.

Do i think this team can win 10 or more games and make the playoffs?? Yes. Yes, I think they CAN if we catch some breaks and do not have injuries at key positions like QB, RB, LB, or Corner.

Is it reasonable for me to EXPECT this team to win 10 or more games this year and make the playoffs? No. No it isn't.

You folks that are certain we win 10 and think we failed with 9 wins should go lay down big money on UT then I guess. Vegas is pretty good at predicting outcomes though. All those casinos weren't built by losing money. Its gonna be a wild season fellas. If we beat NCSU and OK and are 3-0 to start the season then theres a really good chance we pull off 10 wins IMO. That game in Norman is huge in so many ways. GO VOLS
I have laid big money on the vols. It’s not unreasonable to think we’ll go 1-2 against OU, Bama, and Georgia and beat everyone else. Vegas has us at 8.5, but I bet we end up being favored in 10 games. Vegas had us at 7.5 in 2022. Vegas doesn’t determine what is and isn’t a success.
