Deion Intro Speech

I don't truly fault what he said, but I think he should have packaged his message better. It came off as confrontational, even condemning. I think he made a mistake in taking the Colorado job to begin with. I think his speech will get him started off on the wrong foot with both players and administration. Hopefully, he draws major talent, and his green beret boot camp training style doesn't run so many off, that the UC can't field a football team. I want to see him succeed, but I just don't think Colorado is a good first post JSU stop for him. We'll see. Oh yes, we'll see for sure.

Meh, feels like a publicity stunt. Will be over in a couple years IMO. You can look like a genius coach at JSU when you can use your popularity to recruits DI kids to DII. Now everyone has better players and that popularity isn't as effective at recruiting.

I just can't like that guy off the field. He's too self centered. Heck, listen to this speech. All he cares about is him. I'll never trust a guy who gives himself his own nickname.

I don’t know Deion personally. I don’t like everything about him that I do know. He is a bit too brash for me.

However if your post is true…….why would he go to Jackson State for 300k a year?
Prime Time went to Jackson State to get his start as a College Football Head Coach in my opinion

Their faces look overjoyed with his presence.
I was never a fan of this loud mouth.

I too, think his mouth is at times too loud. Lately, I have actually listened to what he says. I find that he openly states what most folks know, but lack the guts to come out and say. One example is his take on what big time schools do when scheduling cupcake games. They pay pale face schools a fatter check, and HBCU schools pennies by comparison. Nothing new, but until Deon, no one had the balls to speak up about it. That's just one example of stuff he says that is on the money. It pizzes off some people that he doesn't care whether they like it or not. If it's true, say it, and let the chips fall where they may.

I have no issues with his straight talk. I like Sanders attitude on the field as a player but I can do without his self promotion off.
I am not sure he is the best motivator though.

I heard him say he was CUMIN'... but I did not hear him say he was staying. JSU was step one, CU is step two. He is free to have and execute his own plans and justifications just like Kiffin. Kiffin got his money even with losing to the Pirate.... Both seem to always be driven by ME not WE. If you can gain ground on your goals while he is around go for it. I acknowledged and admired his athletic ability, his leadership style not so much. I would be throwing up in my mouth if a guy stepped in front of my team with that message.

That institution put people in charge and they made commitments to them that need to be honored. His if you don't leave I will run you off statement told me all I need to know about his methodologies. Trying to maximize the two year NO 25 period is not stupid, but I hope a bunch of guys hold on to their 85 slots and tell him they are LEAVIN' when they get their degree, not before. If he pushes the envelope, he may get some principled push back he is not prepared for. Intimidation has it's limits outside the locker-room.

Well...., uh...
2022 Football Schedule - Jackson State University

And I'd wager a fair amount of Texas A&M players end up following him to Colorado.
He may not be the best motivator, but he motivates. Probably better than Jimbo, Frost, Fuente, Bielema, or Hersin.

This has got to be the worst introductory speech I’ve ever heard. He basically crapped on the entire programs and it’s players 😂

I thought that the first time, I watched it. Second time, got more of the message of if you stay know we are bringing players in to take your job...if you win out, we are in good spot. If you get beat out we are in a better spot. I don't think his personality is built for Boulder. But definitely believe he can turn them around quickly and look at potentially bigger options down the road. He will have an instant impact on portal players flocking to CO.

I just have one really big, non-football hope. The players he brings are mainly from way outside the Colorado region. I hope he hammer and anvil it into their heads to steer clear of curious local gals who shake and flash their Christmas at them. Remember Kobe Bryant in Colorado.

Boulder is different. Beautiful area, very earthy in regards to the people.

Not that I doubt you, Majors. Let's just say I've been around all over the country. Enough to know there's no such thing as no one size fits all. And that every place has their exceptions to whatever rule governs the place. So I stand by my prepare the men for such inevitable circumstances. Humans gonna human, no matter who or where they are.

I understand where you are going.

My initial reaction to the theme music and cliche ridden power trip was that he's full of crap. But literally everything you read or hear is that he is a good guy, the greatest teammate ever and that the Primetime thing was a complete show that went away as soon as the cameras were off. We'll see how the theatrics play out in a Power 5 job.

Thanks for that. I can also tell you many of the uh.., the wildest experiences were initiated by so-called good girls from, good homes, often churchgoing damsels, and all that. My theory when I look back is that it was primarily based on curiosity, a desire to experience something different, and at times defiance to dictatorial forbidden fruit demands. I just hope Deon sledgehammers it into the guys heads to steer clear. Besides, there's also the risk of losing the opportunity for fame and fortune. Thrown away simply for a warm wet hole.

Are you suggesting “curious” college football groupies are more prevalent in Boulder relative to other college towns?

You can twist it that way if you want. Or you can review the entire posts I made regarding the topic. I always expect some folks to insist on making a pretzel out of a donut.
