Dennis Dodd article

People act like Pruitt just started cheating when he got to UT. I feel like he learned from the best at Alabama, Georgia, and FSU. Meanwhile all the players that took money got to transfer and finish their careers without punishment at places like OU, Mich St, and Bama. Who in their right mind would think it would be fair to punish the current team and not the ones that actually took the money?

If the roles were reversed and it was Bama, UGA, UF in our place, how many of us would be satisfied with scholly and visit reductions as their punishment?

We can do all the mental gymnastics we want but we were fortunate this is a different time for the NCAA. There is no precedent for us to receive as light of a sentence as we received...
Are you intentionally leaving off the vacating of wins? Also, if we hadn’t fired Pruitt and staff, the NCAA would have made sure we did. So essentially, if Bama got caught doing what we did and Saban got fired and they vacated wins, then yes I would be happy as a lark. They would recover cause they’re Bama but loosing saban and staff would be a huge win for everyone in the SEC

Lets be honest, most SEC fans of the other schools wanted us to get hammered because they know we are getting good again.

Since I live in Tide Land, some AL fans don't care and the ones that are still butt hurt over the Albert Means / Fulmer turning them in scandal wanted us hammered and not happy we were not. And I still tell them Fulmer was not the one that turned them in however he did pile on once they were turned in. They have reasons to dislike him.

The logic these 2 stooges use is those guys who took money (HenryT, Crouch, Morris, gray, Washington, etc) be allowed to play in post season but those players who didn’t take money (current players) can’t.

It’s sad being that full of hate

In a business context, if associate x is doing dishonest activities, unbeknownst by the business management, the management is not held responsible for the acts of the wrong doing associate. The punishment is meted out to the associate who was doing the activities. Same concept would apply here. The management of the University of Tennessee acted as soon as they could confirm the activities of the coaching staff. Appropriate actions taken, and the NCAA informed of the situation.

Seems to me that Dennis Dodd and Pat Forde are mad because they weren't a part of the committee to hand down punishment. Case closed.

Why should they deny players not around during the transgressions to be punished AFTER letting the players that actually took the money go play at the schools of their choice? Cash transactions are a two way street and those that touched it should pay the price.

Since Dodd is such a do-gooder. Where is his article criticizing the players who took the money and their ignored suspensions?

Lacking punishment for Tennessee's egregious cheating leaves Greg Sankey unsure about future of enforcement

This article basically said we didn't get punished hard enough, despite all of our cooperation. He is arguing for a post season ban for us.
I obviously disagree.

Thoughts?
Dodd clearly has an agenda of some kind and is pushing a narrative that doesn't exist. There is nothing "egregious" about the cheating that Tennessee did other than they were stupid and reckless about it. There is a reason why the majority of the recruits involved in the violations committed to other schools and it wasn't because they were drawn to their squeaky clean programs. It's because we were out cheated by smarter coaches. Pruitt and co sucked at cheating as bad as they did managing the team. In fact, if you look at the numbers and the amount of cash from other schools violations, our cash amounts were embarrassingly low. What is a 5 star player (Darnell Washington) going to do with $750 dollars?? Get a used moped? No wonder he went to uga. The only thing that was egregious was the level of incompetence in UT athletics for 18 years or so.

Who are Dennis Dodd, Dan Wolken, and Pat Forde anyway? Let them write what they will. It all means a big fat zero as far as UT is concerned. Just voices crying in the wilderness.

While the volume of infractions is significant, the amount of money involved wasnt. A total of $60k means a lot of $200-500 meals, manicures, car payments etc. This wasn’t really enough to seriously persuade a player to sign. It’s reported Washington got $750 from BN. Hell, that was basically enough for a prom date with a limo but nothing to get him to sign.

There’s a lot of these “media” guys now who are simply “jocksnifers” for the alma mater. I put Dodd & Forde in that crowd regardless of their employer
$60k??!!😂
Hell, that’s ONE Dodge Charger in Tuscaloosa!
When all of this broke, I thought we would find out that there were hundreds of thousands of dollars changing hands.
$60k...🤷‍♂️

That’s supposedly the total amount. I’ve heard $750 to Washington. $3k on an illegal Nolan visit, manicures, etc but nothing like houses, cars, etc.

Exactly, the total amount reported was 60K (NOT hundred's of thousand's we have seen at other places) spread over hundreds of violations....8 million seems a bit excessive for a mere 60K... plus everyone has been fired, ran off, and kicked the hell out coupled with over half the scholarship limitations already self imposed.
