I think Musk is there to help his business by protecting the flow of taxpayer money into his coffers. If the DOGE does actually streamline government, it'll be because of Vivek and people like Ron Paul.
My cousin is the biggest Musk fan and his opinion is that Musk is there to try to help government help business, which could go any direction. However, the other people involved do give me some hope that it won't be terrible.
That’s the rumor but I’m not sure I buy it. I do buy that whatever is done will be personally beneficial to Musk in some form or fashion.No. Musk knows that eliminating the EV tax credits will hurt Tesla's competitors far more than they hurt Tesla, thereby giving him even more competitive advantage.

The Elon worship is very strange. I don’t understand it but I accept that large swaths of the population worship political candidates but a heavily subsidized CEO is bizarre.Of course he's going to leverage his position for his own gain....with his sycophant fanboys white-knighting for him the whole way because they like his version of Twitter moderation/censorship.
I would argue he's working to make the world better. If he puts humans not only back on the Moon but also Mars in the next 10 years it will change the world.A businessman is working to make the country better and will benefit if things go well? Shocking. Are any of his kids old enough to serve on boards of Chinese companies or create beautiful paintings to sell?
Agreed….. people bitching and whining before they even know the what’s how’s etc of this dept.I'm not going to pretend to know how it's going to play out but Musk was the biggest name in the portal and if he actually contributes to big wins in slashing govt waste then it's NIL money well spent regardless of the fawning of the fanboys or the screeching of the haters.
But the problem is now companies like Boeing, Lockheed, Raytheon, etc low bid on cost plus knowing full well they are going to use the "plus" feature.
Starliner is a prime example of how fixed cost contracts work for the American people. There is no way on this Earth a company like Boeing with nearly 70 years of spaceflight experience couldn't design and build a spacecraft for well under $6 billion.
I get risky R&D type things, but those should be the extreme exceptions rather than the norm. Honestly, I'd prefer companies overbid knowing that will be the true cost rather than coming back every year with their hands out.
