Department of Government Efficiency - DOGE

Elon Musk clumsily working through the basics of a HS civics course in real time, from the Oval office. Buddy, we are a republic. We have elements of democracy, but we are a republic. You are unelected, too.

"If the bureaucracy's in charge, then what meaning does democracy actually have?" asked Musk. "If the people cannot vote and have their will be decided by their elected representatives in the form of the president and the Senate and the House, then we don't live in a democracy, we live in a bureaucracy.

Small, fast and focused on lethality is what we need more so than large, cumbersome and focused on providing jobs.
I agree, but we still need many manuevering units. In fact, combat forces are already tiny, and we need lots logistics.

Saw an interview that a R lawmaker is drafting legislation that any US President that has served two non-concurrent terms would be allowed a third term.

That "pace yourself" advice may be doubly important. Literally.
Unconstitutional - waste of discussion. Will never get through Congress.

then what should it be in your opinion?

What would you axe? Personnel, systems procurement, operable air wings, ships, nuclear forces, R&D?

I am expected to defend my argument, so lets hear yours as well.
procurement definitely. R&D as well.

we don't have to maintain the same pace of technological advancement that we have. We don't need to focus on inventing a new round for each new weapon system we roll out.

we don't need each boot on the ground to be carrything around 20k of equipment on the low side. We don't need to spend more money and get fewer guns out of it.

I would also take a deep look at personnel costs, and sheer number, for everyone above a certain rank, and any not involved combat support roles.

a lot of the issues are self compounding. Each new general/admiral whatever that comes on a project wants to make changes to hit whatever standard they now have, which just adds to R&D while delaying and complicating procurement.

Every post gets 7 responses that go "it's gonna be a looooooong 4 years for these libs who want crazy things like evidence, lol at that" but you're right that I should probably just ignore them
Sorry. It’s been a long 3 weeks. Safe space is in the Lady Vols forum if you need it.

Ok. When you find some laws he broke that are jail worthy please get back to us, mmmkay?

Donald Trump was convicted on 34 felony counts.

Did this news not get reported to the rock you live under?

BTW, I like how you snuck in there the "that are jail worthy." As if your opinion of the crimes severity not meeting your subjective litmus test makes a difference. Had he not been bailed out by Kamala's incompetence; he'd be facing the music for those convictions and likely a bunch more. Straight facts, son.

Donald Trump is a convicted felon. You not wanting to believe it doesn't make that statement cease to be true.

Frankly, you should just tell me I have TDS, insert the clown emoji and "LOL" like you normally do when facts get inconvenient. Move on, you look like a goof trying to argue that he was a victim, reading his bible and not bothering anyone.

There was discussion on here a while back that the punishment must be rendered for to conviction to be valid.
Have you heard that nuance wrt Trump?

I mentioned this in the plane crash thread and it applies here as far as cost savings.

There should be very few commissioned officers holding pilot slots in the armed forces, the vast majority of military pilots should be warrant officers with a mixture of NCOs.

Orange is the new Black. He didn't admit to murdering Americans, he didn't admit to major classified breaches in violation of law, and he didn't admit to blackmailing the Ukraine to protect his son and millions coming to him..... so he seems to be up at the top as far as politicians at the federal level, no?

As far as the rest, I think it will work itself through the appeals process.... but the sane people realize at this point not only was it lawfare but most probably involved major criminals themselves in securing those convictions.

At best you have TDS. If you are not working in context than you aren't working in good faith. The sane people rejected all this a long time ago.

I don't vote, but no doubt he is best man or person to do the job right now..... who else you got? Life isn't perfect.
🤷‍♂️

LOL, I've heard them try to pass that gem off in order to try and duck the reality of the messiah's reputation being tarnished. Sentencing and punishment is simply the next phase after guilt has been established.

Does your personal budget work the same? The state of TN has to operate within a balanced budget. We should consider amendment to force the same on the US government with the exception of being in war or similar national emergency. No way we should accept Congress having a huge budget deficit as business as usual.
Not sure why you phrased it like that.

I don't like it, was showing how there is plenty of waste even in "good" military spending.
