Department of Government Efficiency - DOGE

Is it? They've given little evidence of the fraud, they're currently cutting deep into programs they don't understand, and so far many of their smoking gun claims have been proven false. They're not actually transparent and they're not trained to even do this sort of work. More, it's looking to be wholly unconstitutional. Congress appropriates funds. Unelected appointees don't get to cancel appropriations.

I'm not sure how all these Republican-supported programs are so rife with, uh...Democrat corruption?

Transgender surgery payments for Ecuador or Tourism dollars for Tunisia isn't corruption?

Yeah you fall into either category 1 or 3. Who knows, maybe you are category 2.

Yeah that doesn't sound good at all. 😂
Social engineering is the term describing attempts by persons/entities to gain access to company information or systems. Virtually every company with an HR dept. doing its job has policy/training on dealing with it. Bet a dollar to a donut every Musk owned company has it.

I don't think it's solely a conservative position to be concerned about debt. Actually, I don't think, given that something like 75% of our debt has occurred under GOP leadership, that it's a Republican position.

It's a matter of tax and spend priority, not whether it's debt or not.
We found a new pocket of those who care just recently now that musk and the boys have rocked the status quo.

The former was formally trained and vetted prior to deployment. The latter are just random dudes Musk found with zero experience in government, auditing, or really work.
is "experience in government" really a measuring stick? All of the people that supposedly meet this requirement are the sycophants that have gotten this economy where it is

So, now its gone (2022) yet they need it? I could see contracts with training i.e. knowbe4, but not really at the federal level. This is small potatoes either way.

You can't win fights with poster like this. They are totally in denial. I think it is mostly because they can't accept the fact that their side is "wrong".

He's a 1. He literally said USAID cuts would destroy the American farmer. It was a claim beyond any I've ever seen, like one from one of those highlight reels of leftoid idiocy on twitter.

...and have no reason or desire to fix anything, as they're getting paid as long as it keeps going.

These clowns will bitch about "conflict of interest" with Musk, yet ignore the plain as day conflict of interest of those who have no incentive to change anything.

Trump's team vetted everything on DOGE. I am impressed. They will win on appeal. It was a direct replacement of an Agency Obama setup to fix IT issues in the government (notable Medicare website) and complies with US Code. The lawsuits are a stretch. I am actually surprised as Trump's chaotic nature and lack of falling some of the laws was a big problem in his first term. (He tried to run the US government like one of his companies which doesn't work).

The Trump team did their homework and have allies. Heck, even chunks of the Democratic party with Tulsi Gabbard and Robert Kennedy Jr are even in his circle. This is the greatest political change in our government in over 50 years or longer. Curious to see how it all plays out.

Yes, I know- I posted about this stuff earlier. I have not been directly involved, but have seen on the sidelines USDS projects over the last 4-5 years. I explained a lot in this thread to someone that claims DOGE "isn't an official government agency".

So you’re upset that “untrained dudes” can find waste so easily? Pretty sure the “untrained dudes” are naturally gifted that can’t be taught.

...and they're not "untrained", they largely have more language model and advanced algorithm experience than all of us combined. Plus, the government hires "untrained" and "inexperienced" people all the time. There exist job (GS) levels just like in any organization.

@jwells has shut off his brain.

I don't know that it's needed; the Biden admin was dropping poison pill $$ everywhere on the way out.
I'm just arguing the admin needs a more disciplined approach to cataloguing DOGE activity. Which, I'm assuming is the SAVINGS (receipts) page I noticed they projected for today.

I've contracted to the government and worked with them. It's laughable that you say "no experience in government" like it's an insult.

Wow, do I have unlimited stories...

I’ve learned throughout this process that leftist could care less about results. They care way more about how they feel.

“Qualified” guy gets nothing done= Hey. That’s government sometimes.

“Unqualified” guy is a savage and is getting sh** done!= Well actually. He’s not qualified. Mmm

👍
I don't see how that would even be a savings as its not existing currently.

I think Musk is pointing out (and maybe incorrectly in this case of how funds could be used via USAID?) could be used, also remember how the CIA works. Contracts for doing some of this could and probably will be mislabeled. You're going to see that somewhere. This is why countries in Eastern Europe are asking Trump for more information and data as to where this money was flowing there. Funds even labeled a certain way need to be looked at as you don't know unless you look deeper.

I think they will have some misfires, they are moving fast and its not going to be perfect. Rough quick type audit.

Like I pointed out before, what happens a lot is you end up with overbroad contract vehicles, and task orders get buried under generic names that don't clearly state what the work is. It is very difficult to pull it all apart and see what's going on.

So acknowledge the difficulty and take it seriously rather than jumping the gun and spouting off lies about Reuters, condoms in Gaza or whatever else, IMO (especially when said lies are broadcast to 217 million followers)

Well, we know for a fact they were supporting and funding terrorist groups which the U.S. is fighting. Treason does come to mind bro. Something I have spoken about for quite awhile. I probably mentioned years ago in the Ukrainian thread.

Nobody is getting hurt by this, not really.

Pardon me if I don't really give a rip about that kind of detail after four years of literally fake economic and crime numbers and lies about the competence of the president and his staff.

If the contracts are being cancelled (and I have seen some from colleagues cancelled already), and the savings end up being there, I don't really care. The US shouldn't be spending how it is on foreign aid and national news anyway. We're supposed to be a free market, not a market with random ass subsidies for select businesses and countries.

PS: cancel it now, find out if it was needed later. We'll quickly learn much of what we spend on is useless.

You're wanting a standard which has been absent for decades. I don't fault you for wanting it but surely you understand that standard will never be seen.

Everything should be on the table and looked at/reviewed. This just appears to be the quick and dirty part of it.

They're like.... shouldn't we cancel the SpaceX contracts. I'm like.... okay why don't we look at all that. Heck, I'm fine with getting rid of all of NASA. (they think they are being rational and they actually believe they are hurting people's feelings) 😂

Than they're all upset because they now want to cancel NASA.
