Department of Government Efficiency - DOGE

I'm afraid that all the prognosticating about the chaotic disaster Trump would be has understated the tragedy he represents.
I'm sure you are.
You have a stellar record with predictions, too!
The pebble in your shoe is this: Trump has started very strong. His picks are being confirmed. He's working through his "promises" and his approval numbers already outnumber his approvals of his 1st full term. You, your idealogy, and your "fears" are getting embarrassed on the international stage. I say this not as a supporter but as someone observing.
You hate Trump be cause he's a troll. Have you looked in the mirror?

How does cutting research funding for St. Jude = increasing local taxes?

It was a simple question, will Tennessee residents be willing to suffer a local tax increase to make up the shortfall in NIH funding being pulled from Tennessee institutions?

Trump has started very strong.
Perception is a powerful thing and Trump's media operations are top notch. I'm not so sure about how strong he has started after a month of actions.

"His spending per day is $4 billion higher than Biden’s was a year ago. Next up are massive tax cuts- paid for by huge cuts to Medicaid and SNAP. Is this what Trump’s new multiracial working-class coalition wants?" I think we need to ask ourselves why this is such a high priority in 2017 and 2025.

"Immigration? As of now, we’ve seen no major change since Biden’s executive order restoring control. The border is extremely quiet. Deportations? The pace of arrests is up but still only around a third of the levels Trump promised. Foreign policy? A man who pledged to keep the US from getting into quagmires abroad now wants the US to take over.....Gaza. He also wants to invade and occupy ... Greenland! In talking to Russia, he has begun by blessing Putin’s conquered territories in Eastern Ukraine in advance getting nothing in return. Inflation? It ticked up this month, with the average wholesale price of eggs reaching an all-time high of $8 a dozen. It will get worse: Trump is pursuing lower interest rates from the Fed and higher tariffs everywhere: a recipe for super-charging inflation according to every economist on Earth."

Admittedly, I am a DeSantis guy, but I was encouraged by DOGE and some of the actions taken at first. I want Trump to clean out some of the absurd spending that's happening in DC among other things. However, I am beginning to see them as only gestures that do not really have any effect. For example, he signed an executive order yesterday that banned federal funding for any school that mandated the vaccine (one he championed not even 12 months ago btw). What's funny is that there isn't a single public school in the country that mandates the vaccine. It was performative.

Cutting funding to St Jude will have no impact on local taxes.

You are just being a partisan hack...

St Jude collects roughly $2B a year from donations. I'm not thinking that the 1% loss will have any significant impact. Donations were at an all time high last year.
