Department of Government Efficiency - DOGE

Or, you know, don't require certain percentages of hires to be non-white, effectively shutting huge swaths of qualified and ready white people out of open and critical positions.

I don't get where this "MuH Trump fahred all the FAA people" when it was the Biden admin that wasn't hiring them in the first place, creating the issue. Most of the hiring freezes and shortages I'm seeing were started by Biden and his group of merry morons.
Yeah, Look back to the story of the guy who had the best test scores etc... but because he was a white dude they didn't hire him. They mentioned him in one of the hearings after the DC crash and I think he is now in a lawsuit against the FAA.

It's not just him, I think there is a class action suit with thousands in the same position.

Remember, is it so farfetched to believe this was actually happening when one of their public priorities was hiring more people with intellectual disabilities into the agency?

So quick to blame Trump. So slow to blame the actual causes of our transportation woes.

You do know SpaceX launches classified DOD & Intelligence satellites etc...

So I'd bet he has all the clearance he needs for anything DOGE requires.

I would be surprised if he hasn't had some kind of clearance, but the joke is he is a completely unreliable narrator whose insecurities lead him to tell big, pathetic lies like an out of touch, desperate teenager (or Trump) would.

I'm starting to form the impression that you don't like Elon Musk.

It’s becoming a bit unhealthy. Dims like him are gonna have to up their anxiety meds.
I don't think huff is a dem. He is a good old fashioned small government libertarian that looks mad as hell at the administration that is trying to shrink government. Or a good old fashioned anarchist that looks mad as hell at the administration that's trying to prove that government is evil and can't be trusted.

Not sure anymore. But definitely not a Dem.

"Shrinking" DC by firing firefighters out West, nuclear staff in Tennessee, Forest Service working Helene recovery in NC isn't draining the swamp. Education? What is the issue with the DOE? That they force states to actually teach children with disabilities? Or that they have to strive for equity in funding and access across school zones and districts?

And states spending "their" money more effectively? Red states are gonna be absolutely boned. They don't put in what they put out. Some of these blue states are gonna be flush. Oklahoma? Boned. Tennessee? Get ready for belt tightening.
Nah. TN paid $95B to the IRS in 2023 and was fed funded $19B. TN receives about $1B for education. TN would not be 'boned'.

I'd mapped this out years ago. While red state budgets are comprised of a larger % of fed $, blue states receive considerably more fed $ per capita. Those states most fiscally insolvent - the highest liabilities/obligations to assets ratio - are blue states, and it's not close. The SPM poverty measurement indicates during any period, that of the 10 most poverty-ridden states about 1/2 will be blue; CA is the perennial poverty leader.

A good chunk of the variance in fed taxes surrendered and fed funding received could still go to DC for things we have to collectively fund, Tennesseans get a nice fed tax cut, and easily fund state education with money left over and without 'progressive' mandates. The only way we're boned, is if the fed tax rate isn't adjusted for bureaucracy that doesn't exist. I'm pretty sure that's not the plan.

I'm ready for belt-loosening.

They ARE the government, if you don't think government should be trusted then you shouldn't trust the things Elon randomly speculates on Twitter before getting debunked immediately

Have you noticed that I've been fairly quiet on this this week? I'm sitting back and waiting. I am on record as thinking them possible, maybe even likely, without taking them as gospel. not sure what else you want.

I also think the wails and gnashing of teeth from the unhinged crowd screaming that they don't have the right/clearance/etc to do this is way over the top.

This is fair, I guess I was thinking more generally. Just funny to me when Elon/Trump rant about "government" and "unelected bureaucrats" like they haven't looked in a mirror

I think a bit of nuance would be that Trump is obviously an outsider that's stirring the pot. He's is elected, and looks to be fulfilling the promises he made to get elected. Those "government..." Trump quotes you reference, as far as I can tell, has that ellipse on it. Government waste. Government fraud. Lack of government transparency... Government officials that got unbelievably rich on public servant salaries...

Don’t sell him short. He’s about as left as they come.

I think the only one he's fooling at this point is himself.

I guess they see themselves as outsiders..... But I get it, it is hypocritical.

You think any good comes from this?
