Department of Government Efficiency - DOGE

Doesn’t seem so…this was an hour ago

I am not saying he doesn't dislike the DOGE initiative. I like the initiative. I just don't buy the execution. But if he thought they were gonna get to $2t or even $1t, he shouldn't have phrased it that way. He literally said we won't get less waste. Probably just bad phrasing.

Just a general statement concerning this person’s “disabled veteran” designation in the article. Genuinely curious as to this person’s reason for disability? Was this combat related or a serious training injury? ‘Disabled Vet’ gets thrown around a lot these days. IMO, that designation should resign with a select few.

What does it matter? Because a GREAT place to start with DOD funding cuts (I assume this is where disable vet funding comes out of) would be to get these bullsh1t “disabled vet” statuses under control.

I personally know of a retired vet that ALSO gets 90% ‘disabled vet’ pay for……sleep apnea. He never served in a combat zone. Was a X-ray tech his entire career in the military. And was obese most of his career. How do I know? He worked for me.

I know of another case where a military physician (served 6 years), receives over 3k a month as a ‘disabled vet’ for……rheumatoid arthritis, which she had before ever joining the service. How do I know? Her physician husband told me.

I personally know ppl that work at Ft Knox and they hv routinely talked about soldiers joining the service with full intention of drawing ‘disabled vet’ pay. Apparently it’s pretty damn easy to do.

I’m sure the amount would be relatively small compared to the findings DOGE has found so far, but I believe every dollar matters.

Huff replied to my post to Nash and said Where did I..

has a Statue of Liberty avi, they joined about the same time, they agree on every topic whether Palestine, Musk, LGBT, Woke, Doge, even though he is a proclaimed Libertarian, with strange views btw, and the other a Dem
My dude, Nash is definitely not Huff.

He’s argumentative as hell, but ain’t thin skinned, and he doesn’t ignore posters - he’ll take on all, as long as you’re not being flat out disrespectful.

I’d adamant that there’s less fat in defense than many believe (I’ve provided the per gdp spending previously that shows we are near historical lows in defense spending.

With that said, my main cuts would be foreign bases. Japan would be an easy place to start. And it would provide a local economic boom as you redistribute these people within the continental US
Historical spending is at a low, but there is still incredible waste and inefficiency in the procurement process. We should be getting the same number of assets - for less money.

We absolutely should be closing bases, but Japan would be the last place to start.

Europe. Shut them down.

And for every 3 we shut down in Europe, I’d open 1 new one in AsiaPac - starting with reconstituting Midway.

Yes, open up the path for Putin even more.

lol yes, because all the armies of the EU couldn’t hold off Russia?

We're at the part of the story where Europe is at war with each other. Russia doesn't have to do a damn thing. Why do you think they're having all these meetings and not everyone in Europe is invited.

Europe is on deck.

Eastern Europe can possible save itself, the rest not so much.

Cutting mid single digits is still $50,000,000,000.00 per year. It might not be the 30-50% waste you see in other departments but its still a meaningful amount and percentage....

Since 1980, the increase in defense spending has exceeded inflation by over 60%. The "% of GDP" is just a pro-military metric used to justify spending increases at a rate far higher than inflation...

You should compare spending metric with another spending metric and not an economic output metric....
