To be fair, any statement with that language is instantly marked as opinion. It can't be read as a truth with how the statement is structured. All sides do that in politics (or frankly about anything in life). We make these kind of bombastic statements on here, especially in the Football thread lol.

I think they squander away good portions of that every time they make some of these big mistakes. especially with how they address the issues. Like if we saw them learning and adapting from their previous issues, it would lend them some credence as an actual viable long term solution.

as it is they are chicken little. they may be right, the sky is probably falling, but its not a good way to garner serious, long term, support that is going to make real change.

some in the middle are going to be hesitant to attach their name to DOGE if they keep getting stuff wrong, and relying on Twitter blasts of "WORST FRAUD EVER IN COUNTRY'S HISTORY". regardless if they are in on the grift or not.

You won't see any serious changes until the budget is under consideration in congress. They had to use blitz tactics to bring attention to the public and pressure on congressional republicans due to the time constraints of the budget proccess.

I think they want eyes on this...so much so that even being wrong from time to time would be considered "acceptable losses". You know, the old "even bad press is better than no press" bit. Is that the best play? IDK, but as Hog states we won't really know what's what until budget time and Trump/DOGE wants as many eyes and as much pressure as they can bring to bear if it's going to really matter in crunch time. THEN we'll know if any of this really mattered in the big picture.

I ran a business dept free. Sold that business and now on a much smaller scale run a business dept free and I do that with budgets. It’s not unreasonable for me to expect my government to act the same way……for the reasons you just pointed out.

1. Is the gold measurement above in Troy ounces (14 per lb.) As gold is usually measured...or figured at 16oz per pound like everything else on Earth to Americans?

2. Which ton are we talking about? There are at least a half dozen different types of "tons" and how many pounds in each varies. Generally Americans use 2000lbs as being a ton though.

Assuming Troy and 2000, just to get a ballpark number.. the equation is:

2950 x 14= 41,300 per lb of gold

41,300 x 2000= 82,600,000 per ton

82,600,000 x 5000 tons = $413,000,000,000 even. Strangely.

For perspective...$413 BN is less than half a trillion dollars. Our government has been spending a Trillion dollars more into debt every 100 days for years now. About 3.7 Trillions per year. So we have been going about 7 TIMES our entire Gold reserves further in debt EVERY YEAR for years. Our entire gold reserves would equal about 40 days of NEW debt. Forty days from now, we will be that much further in debt than we are today. The same as 5000 TONS of gold. Every 40 days. Thats not how much money our government spends every 40 days...thats how much MORE money they spend than they receive from taxes etc. Which is ridiculous and disgusting. Thats why we need DOGE. Gotta cut the size and spending of government.
