Department of Government Efficiency - DOGE

its not the only way. DOGE could literally keep doing what it is doing, but at a more controlled pace. to minimize their own mistakes and waste.
People will fall on different definitions of "controlled". On one side you have more or less what we have now which is basically a blitzkrieg approach. To the extent it has the opposition losing their minds and in total disarray while looking much like what most on the Right have long been in favor of it's working fairly well. On the other side, even among those amenable to the goals presented, some are troubled with the idea of reckless haste causing it's own problems. If there's a genuine (not just a soundbite) screwup it will be pounced on as reason to slow down the whole thing. Even lesser issues can (and will to the best of the oppositions ability) be pushed hard to the fore to chip away at the credibility of the process.

Like generals standing over a map and arguing how to best attack the enemy some are going to present much more aggressive strategies than others. I think there are some areas where "shock and awe" are probably pretty viable. If you can ask yourself "Why the hell did anyone ever think this was a legitimate use of tax dollars?" then that's probably one of those areas. Other examples might not be as clear cut and stampeding into the breach might be a viable approach but is it the best? Could it come back to haunt you?

I guess in the end it comes down to what kind of general you are when looking at that map.

I did want to add something that I probably should have mentioned, I have mentioned it during the election process and once Trump was in office and started to move light speed fast.

All of this could indeed be bad or cause further escalation, meaning some of these moves might cause a RESET of the financial system, either intentionally or unintentionally. This is one reason why I didn't vote even though in spirit I was pulling for the Orange man by the end. Do I pull for candidate X who might cause a RESET? Or do I prolong the system by voting for candidate Y?

Either way, the bad actors need to be removed from government and in many cases criminal prosecutions need to start, this isn't just a few of them either. There is no slow to that.

So... to your eyes, yes, all of this could be bad.... but really its facing the Truth i.e. all of this was horseshit anyway.

Both Trump and Elon are very close to the Truth now... the problem with that is.... RESET. (but that is going to happen at some point anyway)

I put the chances of RESET within a few years as somewhat likely, its not all roses, candy and popcorn.

President Musk knows better. Why lie? Is it simply contagious with these tRumpian dolts?

"So, when they're throwing around numbers like tens of millions of dead people are getting Social Security, well there's only 67 million total. What are they talking about? Half the people are actually dead? The numbers are so ridiculous..."
President Musk. That's dumber than a bag of hair, but I guess it is the Democrat 'insult' of the week.

The thing that's most interesting is the when Elon tweets out some claim...not only is his DOGE team investigating it, but it also basically make thousands of not millions aware of the spending...then in an effort to discredit Elon they research and audit it as much as possible...so in essence by making these outlandish claims he is keeping the conversation going 1 and 2 getting people to look in depth into the spending that for years has been ignored...either way he is generating eyes on the waste, abuse and fraud spending of the government..and shining a big light on it....and idiots that wanna prove him wrong are helping without realizing what they are doing...because the Everyman doesn't care if he is wrong about a line item for 8 million or 8 billion..they are pissed cuz is was taxpayer money wasted

.and it's even worse when the argument is "this was found in 2023" because nothing was done and no one shared the waste..

No. People on the internet will repeat any dumb thing.

NATO is really just an umbrella, but like any government-like agency, they still manage to burn some cash even though they don't really have to do anything much. Their entire budget is $[edit 4.5] Billion. That is still a lot, but posts that they could somehow blow through a trillion dollars were just really really really stupid. The USA pays a little bit of the 4.5 billion. We could complain and pay less, maybe, but again, it's not a needle-mover.

What NATO needs to be NATO is couch money compared to what the USA needs to out-military the whole rest of the world. Fortunately for us, we are the most productive nation on earth and we can still "be the USA" for 4% of GDP [actually I guess it's 3%]. NATO is a bargain for all the members for obvious reasons. The UK before WWI had this policy that they'd have a bigger Navy than whoever was #2 and #3 put together, and then they'd be okay. With NATO none of the members needs to do that. I hope this makes sense.
Source? I'm not saying you are wrong, I just want to know a reliable source of this information.

Well, I think we'll have to agree to disagree. If the government is so corrupt or unwilling to change, and is actively working against the President.... speed is more important than anything and some mistakes will be made but can be corrected, imo.

A++++++++ job so far, no its not perfect, life is not perfect.... lots of changes have to be made fast or additional roadblocks will be attempted by the people trying to stop it.

Just my take but yes its the only way.
except that they are doing it so quickly that nothing is going last. they are moving too quickly to have a lasting impact.

its why you see them jumping from agency to agency. you really think they found all the big dollars at USAID before they moved on? you really think they created a lasting change that will actually change the financial well being of this nation by sending out tweets for 2 weeks about a given agency?

they are doing things for the PR effect, not the long term, lasting, meaningful change we need.

right now it looks like political window dressing. Look we fixed the government because we cut 8 million dollars from every government agency, #winning. ignore the man behind the curtain that is the actual budget, the actual red tape, the actual embedded bureaucrats and bureaucracy.

they are literally telling you to ignore all the things that matter, and just to focus solely on what they tell you to focus on. its the classic government misdirection.

I would beg to differ.... which is why there is a bunch of crying. Its the only way, the price of freedom (whatever that might mean) is eternal vigilance.... nothing lasts forever.

Oh yes a slow nonpartisan approach is exactly what the country voted for. lol.

Who said elections have consequences?
who said it needs to be slow?

I said controlled. as in, don't fire people/whole departments that you just have to turn around and try to hire back a week later. you really think it would slow down DOGE too much if someone said "maybe we shouldn't fire this nuclear security department".

is it really that desperate? where even one question is "too slow"?

Oh joy. Bluesky "tweets" to digest.

This is as bad as many of the LibsofTikTok stuff we see here regularly.

Was at doctor with kid, and following up.

Libsoftiktok is an account that uses content from the weirdest ass libs all over the country who do embarrassing ****, and they use it to try to paint a picture that all libs are this way.

The tweet is making fun of the weirdest right wing edge lords in government who actually happen to hold a ton of power right now. It's not at all the same thing.
