Get rid of most of the IRS, ED, CIA, NSA, etc will cost up front but near instant savings, these are smaller line items but they count. DOD and medical is where true money can in theory be saved, these are decade+ projects though.
In today's dollars in a decade or so you could get to $1-2T, but not this year, not next year.... 10 years maybe if there are enough prosecutions. Medical is the huge issue.
Eliminating the IRS would create a huge revenue gap.
Automating most of the IRS along with a drastic reduction in the number of preferences in the tax code could work.
However, this admin wants to add more complexity and preferences to the tax code...
