Derek Chauvin trial

I'm a little confused by that as well. It may be a particular quirk of MN law. I have to assume any manslaughter sentence would have to run concurrent with the murder.
It's the same act, that would be akin to triple jeopardy. Has to be some odd thing in MN law and the highest charge sentence served.

I assume it comes into play in the appeals process. By that I mean the Court of Appeals could overturn the murder convictions and leave the manslaughter conviction in place.
