You can choose to interpret or not some of her statements as being about Jews. The "all about the benjamins baby" comment seemed to suggest that US politicians only support Israel because of financial contributions from rich Jews. The dual loyalty thing was another interesting comment - it did seem to call into question as to whether you can be loyal to the United States if you support Israel...of course, that group of people is largely (though certainly not exclusively) Jewish.

How is that insulting to Jews? That's insulting to politicians, not Jews.

The dual loyalty thing is so weak.

It kind of rolls into that centuries-old trope that Jews are puppetmasters behind the scenes who control nations via their money. I read her comment as both a critique of Jews and our political system.

He thought he could get away with it and today's environment had authorized him to make such awful statements. He only apologized after realizing he was on an island. He's never been to bright.

He's done with the Eagles.
I doubt it. He'll be allowed to "educate himself" and apologize for it, then move on.

Which I'm not opposed to, by the way. Others wouldn't be afforded that same chance though.

I looked up the actual instigating quote.
Eagles WR DeSean Jackson says he "doesn't hate Jews" amid criticism for posting quotes attributed to Hitler

As far as antisemitic from Hitler this reads as pretty weak. And just reads like one of his meth based conspiracies.

I was expecting something more along the Final Solution lines.
I wonder if he pulled that quote from somewhere, or came up with it himself. Regardless, it looks like he typed it himself (there are several typos) although that looks like a page number in the top right (126).

Why do you think the left-leaning news outlets are antisemitic, exactly? Why would the Jewish community so disproportionately vote left if the left is against them?
I’ve always wondered that last question. I really don’t understand it.

Maybe because the left isn't actually against them? Jesse Jackson, who has been positioned as the left's spokesperson against the Jewish community ITT, endorsed Bernie Sanders for POTUS, LOL.

That's a recent phenomenon. American Jews have voted Democrat for a long time, even the Dems were the party of the Klan.

Could it be that the Jewish community votes based on party platform and not based on what some of the radicals within the party think and do?

The Dixiecrats were so far removed from most of the country's Jewish communities that maybe it didn't really factor back in the day. However, the Dixiecrats' migration to the Republican party during/after the women's rights and anti-war movements may be a bigger factor these days (because the country isn't made up of bubbles so much anymore).

They do vote based of party platform, I agree. They also tend to reside in urban areas that are more left leaning; where you live is perhaps the greatest predictor of political leanings more than anything else.

I don't think that "the left" is against them per se. Certainly not the mainstream left. There are anti-Semitic elements on the left and the right, although the ones on the right get far more attention to the point where many think anti-Semitism exclusively resides on the right.

Kinda looks like he took a picture of something.

I always hate these things when I dont know the context. Maybe its because I havent looked into it enough, but as far as I know DeSean may have been talking with someone and mentioned the quote, the other guy doesnt believe him, DeSean shows the image, and wahlah its captured on the instagram story.

Or it could be he was recruiting for the NeoNazis. Both are just as likely imo.

Or it could have just been something he ran across had "woah" moment and shared the source of the woah without providing enough context to avoid a freak out.

I didn't see any posts of his to this effect myself, but apparently all July 4th weekend he'd been posting videos of speeches by Louis Farrakhan and not explicitly endorsing them per se but leaving comments to the effect of "you need to watch this." Then this thing he posted was a "grand finale," so to speak. AFAIK that's the context he posted this in.

Honestly, it sounds like he went down an internet rabbit hole over the weekend, found some stuff he thought was at least interesting (if not outright believes), and thoughtlessly posted it to IG.

In my experience, when someone says "you took it the wrong way," it's more like that person doesn't even understand what they're saying/implying.

I do believe this was legitimately taken the wrong way. It wasn't disparaging imo, and I took it more as a black empowerment kind of statement. Some distasteful projection, sure, but I don't think there was any hate from Jackson himself.

Interesting. Do you have anything to back that up?

Sounds like we are in agreement in principle on the point brought up in OP, based on your last paragraph.

In my experience recently, I’d say DeSean sure is lucky he’s not white.

Imagine if a white player was approvingly posting about Hitler. I’m sure the org would just say that he’s been spoken to and it’s a learning experience

Just a little bit of advice. If you're planning to tweet with no context, dont use Hitler or Farakhan messaging.
That was his mistake for sure. He could have qualified it in the description, but I'm sure there still would have been outrage.

This story will run for another 10 hours or so, then everyone will forget.
