DeShields once again leads the team in turnovers.

I've been critical of Diamond's turnovers but it's getting to the point where I feel sorry for the kid. She seems in shock when one of these turnovers happen and can't figure out what went wrong. I think trying to blend in with this team and trying above and beyond what is necessary not to be selfish on the court has led to this. I really think it's at the point where she needs a good sports psychologist to get her head straight. I also think the problems shooting are mental because of the turnovers. She just needs to step back, take a long, deep breath and reset her focus mentally. She has talent out the wazoo but just needs to get her head right in my opinion. I hope this happens sooner, rather than later.

Every McDonald's all American that has played under Holly has underachieved. All four seasons players have not lived up to their ratings from Massengale to Diamond. So since we've had All Americans numbering up to 8 on every team Holly has coached seems to me that this is a trend and the person not making these players better is Holly and staff. She was a far better player at NC and suddenly she is a shell of her former shelf and the only common denominator for all the players is they played for Holly. Maybe that is why we couldn't recruit anybody they are afraid their game will go away.

Massengale numbers actually were better her last two years with holly then her first two with pat. Ijs

She scored a little more but her assist went down to half of what they were under Pat. She had 160 assist a season under Pat and 100 as a junior and 88 her senior year under Holly.

These numbers were put up against the worst team in the SEC. I agree that it will be difficult to match these mediocre numbers against South Carolina, but South Carolina has yet to light the world on fire with their play this season.

While Diamond continues to lead the team in turnovers, Cooper continues to lead the team in fouls committed.
the "worst team" in the SEC has played a lot of teams close.

Her turnovers were down under holly cut in half now im not saying by any means that holly is a better coach. But i do think holly is just doing what she has been taught

I definitely agree with you. i equally think she's just disappointed in her self and knows she could do better. i'm not seeing any arrogance from her either. at least she's trying to pass and get her team mates involved if she doesn't pass i'm sure she would be called a ball hog.
that's exactly what was being said in the beginning.

The problem is that diamond is over passing . great players know when to pass and take over aka diana taursi geno didn't have to tell her when to pass and score she felt it during the game. if you pass the ball two or three times and you see your team not scoring but getting scored on then as the star you make the necessary pass and score.

Didn't she miss half of her junior year with the concussion? And senior year, she had no one to pass to that could score. SHE was the go to perimeter scorer. So I think her assists numbers her senior year had more to do with the fact that she was playing off guard more than point.

A great player makes her team mates better. Diamond doesn't do that. If she had the proper coaching she could turn that around. She was the same way at Carolina too but had better coaching to minimize her issues.

There's NOTHING wrong with DD that playing with better teammates would not cure. Some that can catch a pass, make a shot after DD leads them to an open spot on the court. Example yesterday was KD standing like a statue as DD's pass sailed by. If she just moves a little step forward, that pass is caught and she is set up for a wide open shot. Instead she looks awkward as the ball goes by an DD gets tagged with a TO.

You peeps will see a much better DD when she is lighting up the WNBA with players who have better skills to pair with.

I agree with Diamond being more talented than the rest of the team.....Thats probably why they just stand around and watch her when she is playing.... no movement because Holly has no sets or plays for them to run? Just dribble and pass!

She only had one turnover last night. She is getting better in spite of Holly and her staff.

Diamond is a superior player playing on an inferior offense, of course she is going to stand out.

Don't really agree. She shoots a lot, turns it over a lot, the offense doesn't flow when she's in there, she doesn't make her teammates better, she's all about me. The team's better when she isn't on the floor.

She's an emotional roller coaster, the team doesn't really have any chemistry with her or understand what she's doing most of the time. She is physically talented no doubt but I really wished she hadn't transferred here.

Yes, Holly can't attract any talent and I wish the talent she attracts was not here!

I am mystified why Diamond is being made the scapegoat for this teams struggles. I am guessing it has to do with her facial expressions; people presume she is pouting, being arrogant and so on. I just think that is how she looks; it like someone who has eyebrows that make them look angry even when in a good mood (speaking from personal experience here).

From what i can tell, she is tight with her teammates and the whole team has had problems with playing as a unit. If anything, though, Diamond is often to unselfish; passing when the better option would be to take it to the basket.

I was concerned early on because she seemed lackadaisical on defense but I think that was a function of her injuries; as the season has gone on, her defensive effort has steadily improved.

But my question is this, even given your reservations, why wish she had not transferred here? Why not wish, hey, I hope that the she starts clicking with her teammates; or that the team, including Diamond, all get comfortable in their roles and so on. There is a lot of options between Diamond's not doing so great right now and I wish she was not a LV.

No, it's how she plays. She plays selfishly. Has nothing to do with her facial expressions. Anyone who has seven turnovers in a game, or was it 8, has a real problem. Anyone who drastically leads the team in turnovers like her has a real problem. Anyone who jacks up 17 shots in 17 minutes of playing time has a real problem. They're selfish.

The thing that it so puzzling about Diamond for instance if she played Breanna Stewart in one on one she could probably beat her half the time. I'd say they're fairly equally gifted. But Breanna is so much more a team player than Diamond and she makes everyone around her better. Not even close.

As much as I wish you were right, this is the funniest post that I've read in a long time. Have you not seen that woman play?

For those attacking, for lack of a better word, Diamond on the turnovers, the majority of the ones I've seen is where she is trying to get in to another player to score. That's not selfish, to me.

She is doing what Holly wants everyone to do............force the ball inside no matter what! She understands the game better than her teammates and tries to pass the ball where they should be going... Her trying to be a facilitator and them not knowing what they should do is creating turnovers.

I wish she would take more shots.... At least she does not hesitate! Carter (WONT) JORDAN (WONT) MIDDLETON (WONT) Everyone is afraid to shoot! Even when we do get the ball inside (Mersedes) will not shoot unless it is right where she wants it! SHES 6'6" jeeeessszzz. take the shot!
