I have to say that DY has looked impressive in the past few practices. His footwork is ridiculously fast. If he brings that level of speed and intensity to the game, he's gonna get more yards than people expect. I hope he has a career year with Team 118 and takes his talent to the next level.

I'd like to see him take a couple punts/kick-offs "to the cheggerboards" this season...

IMO, he has had enough chances. He is not a difference maker. To me, he and Josh smith are politics ball players because they are from Knoxville. I hate to say it but it's true. We have easy better options than either.

When Dooley took over, the specials teams return game was dead, both kick offs and punt returns. So, he got a local guy to help spice it up.

I really am disapointed in both of these developments. We will all see with our very eyes if Josh smith comes out looking like crap like he did last year and little guy continues to trip and fall. Don't understand why Wharton or Evan Berry isn't returning punts or perhaps Malone.

I hope he does make an impact. The more weapons we have the better. More options equals fresh legs. I don't see CBJ evaluating talent with a political slant. Either you can play or you can't. Devrin looks pretty explosive to me, as does Josh Smith for that matter.

People forget that Dooley several times rushed 11 on punts with nobody back due to not having ANYONE that could catch (even fair catch) a punt...

I'll believe it when I see it.

We shall see. I hope I'm wrong but unless we see marked improvement with our own eyes, that's the only logical conclusion. We heard how great they were last year. They weren't good.

Yeah I would love to see it. That's a guy with a lot of fire to play with. I loved watching him at running back actually. He lined up behind those big guys and I don't think DOOLEY knew where he was going to squirt out! Another Sproles is what I thought at the time.

I have to agree with you about both last year. Didn't have great years and the proof is in the pudding. Young is a senior and guys tend to put it together their senior years.

Smith was hurt and was a freshman is that correct?

He was getting talked up a lot and getting first team snaps. He did drop a lot of passes. But yes just a freshman. I can see him becoming a good player. These coaches have too much at stake to play a guy because of politics.

I sure hope so but they would both have short leashes if I was the coach. I got sick of watching Josh smith drop balls and get stripped when the ball was tight in his hands. Physically weak last year.

i hate when i accidentally read posts by dbag negavol losers. Never feed the trolls either for that matter.
in this case i must digress;
DYoung has the most lateral quickness and agility of any player on the roster IMO now that CP is gone. JSmith has drawn more praise than any receiver in camp, hands down. Straight from the coaches mouths, not internet experts. I look forward to big years from the both. Negavols kick rocks. Yesterday. GBO VFL HUBAN

Devrin Young hasn't been a difference maker his first 3 years with a skeleton roster. Why should anyone expect any different because his feet look good in practice?
