Dexter

I just think it was another example of a show running too long and the writers ran out of good ideas. This happens to a lot of successful shows, sadly.

Just finished the finale last night. I feel cheated, but relieved at the same time. The last few seasons had become tiresome.

SPOILER.......

I've tried to imagine a better ending, one that doesn't just throw away all the investment of 8 years. I would have liked to have seen Deb pull through and perhaps join Dex and Harrison in a new life, removed from his "passenger." I have mixed feelings on Hannah, but it would be tough to remove her given Dexter's (apparently) real love for her. Honestly, I never fully bought in to that relationship. Rita, though.... Wow.

Anyway, fun show, I'd still recommend it, but I might caution that it's downhill towards the end.

The last time I watched Dexter, it was the one where his wife was killed in the bathtub season finale. One of the most shocking moments in TV ever.

That was the culmination of the best season. I think every Dexter fan was emotionally moved by Rita's death and Harrison's reaction. It's a haunting scene.

The show really should have ended there.

And as far as imagining a better finale....almost anything you could think of is probably better.

Stop there. Put down the remote and count your blessings you haven't witnessed post season 4 Dexter. It is a good day, and rejoice in it.

Yes I can't say that you didn't warn me, but I had to finish it. The first half of the series was so good too, I just don't get it lol.

That's why I tell people to pretend the end of Season 4 is the series finale. Works out so much better.

I thought Season 4 was the best, and John Lithgow was just awesome as the villain. I figured nothing after would ever top that but I had no idea the quality would drop so much. 5-8 are all bad but the final season is embarrassingly bad.

Ditto...I started season five and just stopped...did their best writers move on after season 4?

I watched until the end of 6. Obviously worse than ending at 4, but I felt I knew where the show was going so I was satisfied with not seeing Dexter go downhill more. 6 was a decent idea, but the focus was all wrong and felt oddly out of place from the plots throughout 1-5. The show felt like it was repeating in 5, from season 3 and the Miguel plotline (which I thought was bad anyway). 4 was brilliant, probably the most shocking, yet organic feeling, twist at the end of a season I have ever seen. I didn't feel like it was done just for sake of being done, it made sense and it killed off a character that played such a vital role to Dexter. After that it was predictable and forced over and over.

Season 4 was one of the best seasons out of any show I've ever watched.

The real question though is...

Rita or Hannah? Both are smokig hot!

Yeah I finished it just because. Lol I agree the first 4 seasons were great, then it fell to ish. It was so scattered.
