I said I doubted it was his opinion - he has a team that comes up with jokes about recent news. You're reading wayyyyy too far into it. He has a news comedy show - making it into a news show with an agenda is giving it too much weight, imo.
a perfect example of what i'm talking about. stewart launched a show specifically intended to make conservatives look like idiots. how anyone can clame there isn't some sort of agenda here is beyond me.

I don't think it is to make conservatives look like idiots, but to spotlight idiots that may or may not be conservative.
Outside this forum, where feigned outrage rages, I've never met a conservative offended by Colbert Report... well, at least not one that wasn't an idiot first and a conservative second.
The premise of comedy is to not be serious. I suppose this is sensitive territory for you.
name the last democrat he has spotlighted as an idiot. i enjoy both programs, but sometimes the agenda gets to me and i can't enjoy it.
who made that rule? comedy is by definition social commentary. at least the good comedy is.
Stewart 100 % has a political agenda. But he also has an agenda to make fun of bad logic, twisted facts, and stupidity.
It doesn't hurt that the right keeps serving up such tasty morsels in that regard. Palin is a treasure trove of materials. Fox is more sophisticated, but easy prey, nevertheless.
The left serves up just as much bad logic, twisted facts and stupidity yet it mostly gets ignored - that is the primary issue in this discussion.
His rant on Fox last night was not about comedy - it was about attacking a perceived foe. He used some comedy for the delivery but his obsession showed clearly.
He's working his demographic. Having this argument is saying that Saving Private Ryan didn't have enough Barbie dolls, and Romantic Comedy A didn't have enough bar brawls.
His demographic is 20-35ish college/non-family individuals, who typically lean left.
It seems everyones beef is with his business model.

are you serious? pretending to be a conservative and then making fun of democrats while playing the idiot is the exact opposite of flaming democrats.
name the last democrat he has spotlighted as an idiot
Ever listened to NPR for an extended period of time? Not that it touches conservative talk radio in depth and breadth.

i very much doubt the overwelming majority of people who watch his program are active politically. very few young people are. many are going to his program to form their views, not reinforce them.
