I'm on the fence, but I'm going to say, "Yes," because of this team's attitude and the fact I think we'd have gone bowling with Justin Worley!

Coaching? No. (decent, but can and likely will improve)

Leadership, recruiting, etc he did great. Not sure if the question pertains to actual in game coaching or all the other stuff coaching requires. The only thing I would answer no to is actual in game coaching.

The question pertains to coaching only. Not recruiting.

I don't think many people understand just how toxic of a situation Dooley created. He had an expect to lose mentality. He accepted losing, and many report that his players took that on. Basilio had some people last week saying that there was at least 1 player this season who wanted to quit mid season. I don't think we understand completely how challenging it was for Butch and staff to change that culture. I love all the UT players, but the sooner we get players with no Dooley exposure, the better.

No. Four blowouts and a Vandy loss simply cannot be erased by two good games vs UGa and USC. Tangible evidence of player improvement over the course of the season is difficult to find... regression is not very hard to find.

Neither back up QB who played was prepared.

This is not saying they "can't coach" or "won't". This is simply recognizing the fact that the coaching performance in THIS season was not good.

Pure BS. If that's the "reason" for past failures then the arrival of a positive and competent coach should have lifted the team. Instead, we saw just more of the same and maybe a little worse.

Didn't say it was the "reason". My post never used that word. However, you can't change a player's character overnight. Also, this was just a report on Basilio. If you come in and guys have had 3 losing seasons in a row and are 2-3 games away from a 4th, that would be difficult for a coach who has only been around 10-11 months. You have to look at the context of a situation. Players were pumped at first, but then losing sets in again and the breaks start going against you, that mentality can creep in for seniors who have known nothing else. Just throwing it out there. Never said it was acceptbale or a reason.

Average. I was a little disappointed in how the offense looked. Spacing/playcalling looked nothing like what we've historically seen from Butch coached teams.

QB situation was iffy. I still think DobFurg should have gotten time early.

So far, Yes is running away with the vote. Is this because of 'sunshine pumping'? If we are only rating coaching performance on decision making this past season, it's a 'No' for me. The offense was way too predictable and the team didn't seem well prepared in many of their games. I'm still excited about Butch and I love the recruiting. Now, he needs to coach these new recruits. Missouri is a good example of strong coaching with less than 'top notch' recruits. USC under Kiffin was a good example of great recruits but losing with poor coaching.

I don't have time today, but if someone does, I would love to see where we ended up in major categories compared to last year. I know we improved in total defense and penalties. I'm assuming we regressed in total offense. It might be helpful to have a black and white snapshot before voting.

There were 13 Freshmen and walk ons in the two deep, they played with a True Freshman backup qb for 1/3rd of the year, The best defensive players were playing 70+ snaps a game, new offense, new defense, new coach, new coordinators, and ALL of the offensive power (except Neal) from the past season was gone.

What kind of improvement were some of you guys expecting? You can't just build a house with a hammer and a box of nails. You put together a blueprint, you purchase the appropriate tools, you lay a foundation, and then you spend time on it.

this was posted by LWS. Hard to get a good feel when you're playing half the top-10 with these numbers

Following is how many Freshman and Walk-ons played in each game. Many of these were in the 2 deep so winning 5 with this number is really pretty well

Peay 29 of 70 players
W KY 28 of 66 players
Ore 28 of 65 players
Fla 21 of 54 players
S Ala 21 of 56 players
UGA 20 of 53 players
USC 21 of 57 Players
Bama 25 of 63 Players
Miss 23 of 60 players
Aub 23 of 57 players
Vandy 21 of 54 players
UK 17 of 50 players

Way too many of those type players to win in this conference..

I think the poll would have been better if it was on a grading scale. Its not simple yes or no.

A 90-100
B 80-90
C 75-80
D 70-75
F 0-70

85 for Austin Peay
85 for Western Kentucky
75 for Oregon
70 for Florida
60 for South Alabama
90 for Georgia
95 for South Carolina
70 for Alabama
65 for Missouri
70 for Auburn
50 for Vandy
80 for Kentucky

98 for Recruiting
100 for Public Relations(including media, bringing back players, energy in the program)

So with the way I graded each game(which is based on my opinion only) Jones scored an overall 78 or C. Not bad for the schedule he had to play and it being his first year.

Hopefully he makes it into the 80's next year
