Did Cutler quit?

If he's on crutches I think it's a moot point.

probably is, but why the hell would he go to crutches if he didn't need them. I can actually respect that he didn't give a crap what it looked like. Might be the only thng, besides his cannon, that I can respect about him.

How do you know how severe the injury was/is?Sounds to me like Cutler either beat you up and took your lunch money back in the day or had sex with your wife with all the hate you're spewing towards him.

I find it hard to believe that anything as severe as keeping you out of the NFC Championship game in lieu of two retards, would allow you to walk around all day, ride the bike, stand up, sit down, stand up, and require absolutely zero medical attention whatsoever. Did you see him buckle at any point on the sideline? No. Did you even see him wince on the sideline? No. He sat there and just pouted as he always does...things weren't going his way so he took his ball and went home.

Maybe I'm questioning the wrong thing. Maybe he was hurt and couldn't play, that could be absolutely correct. Maybe it's his jackass character and lack of heart that I truly question. After seeing the likes of Phillip Rivers, Byron Leftwich and many more, it's just hard to believe Cutler was that injured.

when has he quit in a game that wasn't going his way? From what I can recall, he has always trotted back out there, even in the wake of some vicious licks.

Looking at this solely from his agent's standpoint - a PR battle. I get he doesn't give two cents what people think about him and that's just him, but he's already got a bad enough rep anyway and this just added to it. Fair or not, there's a standard that QBs are held to by the media and fans.

I don't really care. I wish he would have tried to play. Would have caused me a less stressful second half. It was obvious he was hurt to people who understand the game and was hurting the Bears more than helping them. (Although I would take a one-legged Cutler over Todd Collins.)

You may be 100% correct and if so then he should never start another game again the rest of his career but I have a hard time believing that any player would sit out with a shot at the Super Bowl on the line.

Kinda ridiculous to complain about jackass character then cite Phil Rivers as an example of the opposite.

All my thoughts aside of his image, I'm going to laugh at all the idiots when it comes out today he's got a torn ACL or MCL.

Talking head fodder. It's a waste of airtime. I really question the professionalism that ESPN claims to sustain when things like this take place. There is a damn fine SuperBowl to promote, and you choose to focus on Cutler's "heart"?

Again, you are correct. It's just his demeanor that doesn't help his rep, but you are right...through college and the NFL, he has definitely taken beatings and gotten back up.

It goes both ways I guess, some guys you would just have to take off in a stretcher to miss that kind of game.

Call him what you want, but quitter has never been tied to his name, and I don't ever recall his teammates having to solidify that. He played with a torn ACL...at least he tried. No one knew about Brady's injury...but he tried. Steve McNair for God's sakes played with more injuries than we can name, he tried. Roethlisberger had a broken nose and foot, he played, maybe that's why other players respect him...and he's about to have a third ring. You can't tell me deep down that Brian Urlacher, one of the toughest guys in the NFL and with arguably his last chance for a Super Bowl wasn't a little pissed off deep down that the guy he once referred to as a female cat was sitting over there on the sidelines while everyone else gave it everything they had to try and get there again. He can say what he wants in the media, it's all bullcrap anyways, but the competitor in him knows what he knows...and you do too.

Urlacher isn't going to hand out compliments if you don't deserve them. Ain't happening.

Cutler is a pro and playing in the biggest game of his career. He didn't quit without justification. Armchair QBs beat their chest and call him a female cat, but if he can't plant and risk a career ending injury he should not play. The trainer and coaching staff made the right decision. If he can't plant, his throws will be weak and risk game losing interceptions. The Bears have a lot invested in him and they don't want to lose their investment.

Urlacher said this too:

"I don't give a [expletive] about players around the league who are watching the game from home," said Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher."It's easy to talk [expletive] about someone while you're sitting on your couch watching the game. That's all I'm saying. I don't understand it. I don't get it. Let them sprain their MCL -- or do whatever he did to his knee -- and let them get back in the game. Let's see them do that, see how well they run the ball, or see how well they do at whatever position they play. I don't agree with it. It's easy to write that stuff on the Internet."

What's up with the rule if you play your 3rd string qb before the 4th q. The 1 and 2 cannot return to the game?

While I'm not the biggest Cutler fan around, I don't blame him for not getting back on the field. I ruptured my UCL (in throwing elbow) and subsequently played the majority of a collegiate baseball season on it before having Tommy John surgery. Playing for so long with the injury caused additional damage to the joint itself as well as some of the surrounding tissues. By the time I went under the knife, I had turned what should have been an 11-13 month recovery process into a career ending injury- and I still have some lingering issues from it. If I had it to do over again, I would have stopped playing and had the surgery right away; no matter how much my team may have needed me that season.

My point- as a high-level athlete, you know when something isn't right with your body, and certain performance hindering pains/injuries are just not worth risking your career for.

What's the rationale behind the emergency QB rule in the NFL? If Hanie had entered the game in the 4th Quarter, Cutler or Collins could have come back in if need be. But since Hanie entered the game in the 3rd Qtr., neither guy was eligible to come back in and Matt Forte was next in line if Hanie got hurt.

I don't think so, the reports say he had torn knee ligament and I'm no doctor but he also has diabetes and was bleeding earlier in the game, might have something to do with it too. Also when Urlacher and Kreutz say he was too hurt to play then I believe those guys.
