Did Trump reveal classified info to Russians?

Outside of legality, don't you guys have a problem with Trump sharing too much with Russia, if that is indeed what happened? I don't get why so many people are hung up on the legality of it.

I don't know. And I don't know because I'm not sure if Russia is our archrival like they used to be. Seems like there are other more urgent threats, smaller threats, that have to be addressed.

There's a major catch to this. There's a difference in legality and keeping the trust of your allies who are sharing info. Literally everything POTUS discloses, whether it be Trump or Obama or Millard ***** Fillmore is legal because he has the sole authority to declassify anything he wants to. There's a line you don't cross though when sharing intelligence, and the IC is going to have to figure out whether or not he crossed it, not because it's an impeachable offense or anything, but because they're going to have to be the ones to repair any damaged relationships here

You changed your handle.....seriously deranged.

Out of curiosity, what would you expect them to say?

Gather 'round my Hebrews and Shebrews...as I drop a schmeckle of troof about the Gentile Giant, America, and her relationship with Jew-Jammin'-Stan.

How's that sound?

(Imagine it as a voiceover for tv commercial for a tractor pull or monster truck rally )

I have to wonder with no agenda, because I'm not a big fan of his, but how do they know this? First, I've not watched any news, just seen headlines on Facebook, and now this. Did the Russians board their plane and call CNN and tell them trump gave away secrets, or did trump admit it, or is this just liberals dead set on "Russian" everything?

It is amazing that someone can print a story like this and immediately it becomes "the truth".

I read a comment that perfectly describes the Trump administration - a junkyard falling down the stairs; but even given that, the press have an agenda. The press remind me of spoiled brats seeking revenge because the election didn't go their way; they will continue to act like a pack of rabid jackals until Trump is out of office.

You have to ask how could someone at WaPo could actually know what went on IF they actually know anything. Secondly, if someone did divulge information, then how could WaPo assess it's importance either in usefulness, credibility, and in how the information could compromise sources and ability to collect further data. It's a serious problem if WaPo knows that first hand and divulged information cavalierly in a way that would violate security.

If information were actually leaked by someone with the clearance to know and know the significance of the information, then that should be a matter of national security and "reporter privilege" completely off the table. The leaker(s) - if there are any - should be subject to the same treatment that a mole planted by a foreign government in an intelligence agency would face. At that point there's no difference between the source and the reporter, and both should be fully accountable for a crime and for espionage.

The other problem I have is with the Wikileak stuff, it was all about the outrage over the leaks; not the content. With the White House leaks, it's all about the information and nobody seems concerned with how it's obtained.

that's because it was Hillary

Israel most certainly isn't fine with Trump sharing info with Russia who are besties with Iran, Israels biggest threat.

I doubt they are fine with Trump sharing info that can reveal their source, but Iran is inconsequential here. They are sworn enemies of ISIS as well.

Trump is such an idiot. Just go ahead and bring in Pence, the clown show is over.

WASHINGTON — President Trump boasted about highly classified intelligence in a meeting with the Russian foreign minister and ambassador last week, providing details that could expose the source of the information and the manner in which it was collected, a current and a former American government official said Monday.

The intelligence disclosed by Mr. Trump in a meeting with Sergey V. Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister, and Sergey I. Kislyak, the Russian ambassador to the United States, was about an Islamic State plot...

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/15/us/politics/trump-russia-classified-information-isis.html

not reading this whole thread to see if it was discussed but how did this info get out? Wasn't there a complaint that there was nobody at these meetings but those involved. and the only media who got anything were Russian? so if that follows whoever made this pronouncement must be using Russian's as their source and is believing a lie. or so I have been told.

The thread title implies this is some impeachable offense.

Someone in this thread (or another) through the hypocrisy card because Trump said people that disclose classified information would be prosecuted to the greatest extent of the law (or something like that).

IOW - the legality has been used as a critique against the action.

"An impeachable offense is whatever a majority of the House of Representatives considers it to be at a given moment in history." - Gerald Ford

Soooo, the Israeli Ambassador is a liar?

It isn't that he is a liar in this instance (although he might be). It's that this would be the standard external, official response regardless of how Mossad actually feels.

Isreal is in a tough spot regardless.

Hopefully we'll know soon what did and didn't happen with things connected in any way to Russia. My main concern is trump's obvious love affair with the ruskies. But that's probably just me.

And that is all any of us should ever know.

Because your so-called question is irrelevant at this point.

"So called question"? What does that even mean?

Why is everybody so scared of a hypothetical thought exercise?

Not surprised nobody has answered*. More squirming.

*outside of McDad's IDK

I don't think people really have a handle on what went down yet between the media narrative and the statements from people in the room.
