Did you just hear Chris Fowler? OMG!!

From Fowler's online commentary on ESPN.com

But is the power of Rocky Top being hugely overrated? Here are some numbers we home cooked that blew me away:
• Tennessee is 5-5 in its past 10 home games.
• The Vols have lost nine home games in the past four years. Get this: Five of those losses have been by 17 or more points! (In the previous 10 years, UT had been blown out that badly at home only once, by Steve Spurrier's gang in 1994.
• UT has lost six straight home games to opponents ranked in the top 10. The last top-10 home win was in 1999, versus Georgia.

(Hopefully I didn't break board rules by posting this.)

here's the real question:

is Fowler watching the same game as me?

sometimes i wonder he has any clue what's going on.

Let 'em talk smack about UT and Neyland... When they roll into Knoxville, they WILL see what we are all about.

Chris Fowler can kiss my rosy red you know what. His opinion and a quarter won't even buy ya a cup of coffee. He still hasn't gotten over his ignorant trailer trash comment that y'all have mentioned. Can't wait for the Vols to make him look like an idiot Saturday. Can't make the game but here's hoping all you guys and gals at the game get loud and show Mr. Fowlbreath he's full of it. Go Vols, kick Cals butts back to Berkley.

Can you blame him? Dont get me wrong. I can't stand Fowler, but what he said is not far from the truth. There are plenty of times in the recent past that Tennessee has lost games that werent close. A few examples:

Florida 2002
Bama 2002
Miami 2002

Georgia 2003

Auburn 2004

Georgia 2005

Also, just a few things to note:

At home in 2004 we:
-Barely got by Kentucky

At home in 2005 we:
- lost to South Carolina for the first time in Knoxville.
- barely beat Memphis
- And lose to lowly Vanderbilt for the first time in 20+ years.

Bottom line is we have no room to talk about how good our homefield advantage is when we have been struggling with wins at home for the past 3 or 4 seasons. I will say that prior to 2002, Neyland was a threatening environment to be in. And it's been that way for some games when the crowd is actually into a big matchup. For example, in the 2004 game against Florida, the crowd was extremely loud, but have not heard that kind of noise since then. As long as we keep losing big games and barely winning against schools like Memphis and other small teams at Neyland, we can't say that we have good homefield advantage. Saturday will be a test of how loud the crowd can be.

Your right but we have to move on from the last 4 years and start a new streak and take back our holy ground.

That sounds so much like “bammers” always looking back to the past and what went on.
This is “OUR HOUSE” we can all get on here and bash CPF or the other coaches or players, or each other for that matter. Here at the Nation this is family, and Fowler is not part of our family. His opinions were shown to be biased after he made the trailer park comment. This thread was just about his classless comments and until one of us adopts him into the nation, his comments are not welcome and his recall to the past is still insulting to us VOL fans.

Bottom line Fowler does not care for Tennessee, and we do not care for him.
Top of line it is 2006 and the past doesn’t win or lose this game.

LONG LIVE ALL THE VOLUNTERRS.

Sadly... it is true that we don't dominate at home the way we did during the 1990s.

But I agree, lets take it back - starting Saturday. only 2 more DAYS! I would love to see this the most rabid Tennessee crowd in years... what a great way to come back from last year's debacle.

Sadly as Duckman and Tidwell point out, we are have been dismal in playing ranked opponents in "Our House", and if this trend continues it needs to be remedied. ("You know what I mean, Vern?"); to quote Jim Varney.

We have been ugly at home for a while now, but this is a new year. It is time to make people fear Neyland again.

Bear season starts Sat.

Playing well at home will be crucial for our success this year. We've got Cal, LSU, Florida, and Bama at Neyland. Those are some tough games. Unfortunately, Fowler is actually closer to the truth than I'd like to admit about our play at home. Most of our big wins the last few years have been on the road. I mean, Casey Clausen only lost one road game his whole career. If we start stepping it up in Knoxville and actually play better at home than on the road, we might have a pretty good season in 2006.

Unfortunately the truth sometimes hurts. It will be a great time for the team and fans to show their hunger and show that this is OUR House again. Lately we have put on a better road show than at home but one good season against some ranked teams can help remedy that. Go Vols:good!:

1.) What did he say that was not true?

2.) Why does it bother you that he said it?

Oh well,

What he said stings but... Take it like a man get up and change it if you don't like it. Right now we haven't protected home field. CPF himself said we need to change that. It is no secret. A loud crowd and a good Vols team on Saturday can change that.

He is right....we have been nothing short of pushovers for most teams coming to Neyland. It's time for the fans to get off their lazy butts and make some friggin noise...and it's time for the palyers to suck it up and be proud to wear the Orange and White!:clapping:
