Die on the Chick-Fil-A Hill?

Then it is a great filter. Give me the hire not consumed with whether we have a DEI department or not.

I don't know for certain but I'm guessing most companies don't have a dedicated DEI department, they hung a title on some poor SOB in HR so they can check a box. You'd be surprised (or maybe not) how many bid packets I get that ask about our DEI department.

Because today's primarily younger workforce expects these programs. It's part of their decision-making process. I know that of which I speak. Now, does it it make a difference to folks working in CFA restaurants? Doubtful. But corporate roles? Different deal.

I'll admit DEI programs don't make sense for every industry. But I can assure you they are important in the professional services industry where human capital drives the machine. Tech is another industry where it is expected by the workforce.

Your first paragraph about younger employees seems to simply agree with my initial claim that this is done to appease “the left”. You just replaced that word with “younger”

For non-government work?

Because it's expected. Which has been my point. I think many of us on here are a more mature and do not understand the younger workforce. It's different now. Adapt or get left behind.

That’s been our point too. This isn’t done because it directly helps the bottom line as you initially seemed to be arguing. But rather it’s done to gain public approval because of the pressure placed on companies by the left

I hire out of college professionals frequently.

I work for a very large corporation and I know our DEI individual (yes, it's literally one person), rolled up under HR. I agree that in a lot of companies it's a box checking situation.

I'm sure you are right. Thankfully we haven't (that I know of) had any prospective employees bring it up but it's certainly expected from some of our clients.

It does affect the bottom line, bid on work from the two big package delivery companies and there is a whole section of the packet on DEI.

You don't believe having better talent helps the bottom line?

I work in professional services. Our 'product' is primarily our people. It is critical to hire the best and brightest. And I promise everyone here they expect DEI, ERG, etc.

Call it "left" or whatever, but it's important to have in today's business environment.

Hiring departments have existed for decades. Those departments are actually dedicated to finding the best talent which helps the bottom line.

You’re openly admitting this is being done not to make more money but rather to appease the left. You just refuse to admit the last part and say “to appease the young” as if it makes some material difference

Of course they have. What the talent desires changes, though. People aren't only looking for a certain role, salary, shift, etc. anymore. They expect more. Hiring managers must compete for the best talent. It's the way it is.

It's not appeasing the left, it's meeting the demand of the workforce.

Meeting demands of the hard left wing portion of the workforce. Which isn’t large enough to make a difference in the level of talent that you’re attracting.

LOL. Not even close to accurate.

Very accurate. You’re falsely claiming they can’t hire the best talent without this. Yet the actual truth is that outside of the hard left no one is going to pass up the higher pay and better atmosphere that chik fil a provides.

If what you’re saying is true and they are losing talent due to their lack of DEI program, why have they been known for years for having the best costumer service experience in fast food? The answer is obvious. They’ve not been harmed by a lack of a DEI program and have lead the industry in talent acquisition
