Die on the Chick-Fil-A Hill?

Man if I was retired and had a beach house my first order of business would be seeing how many oysters I could eat at one time.
You'd be surprised at how many people that live on or near the Ocean never go to a seafood restaurant. I myself, love finding a local joint where you get real fresh seafood and the locals go. They are becoming harder and harder to find though.

They are everywhere around Port St. Joe, Apalachicola, etc. No chain restaurants there. Not enough people.

Maybe I'm stereotyping based just on my experience, but I've noticed that a lot of older people don't like seafood. Neither of my mom or dad's parents will eat it, my in-laws folks won't eat it, and I know of others.

I have never liked it. I about gagged watching my dad eat sardines out of a can 60 years ago. He would also feed them to the cat when it was sick.

I come from a "half" family of coastal folk and "half" Tennessee folk. The Tennessee side was all about meat and tators, the NC/VA side was about seafood and BBQ. I like it all.

I like BBQ, Chinese, Italian, Mexican, burgers, hot dogs, etc. I eat burgers occasionally, and meats in other dishes, but don't care that much for a piece of meat, like a steak. I don't care how expensive it is or the cut. My wife buys expensive steaks and we cook them on the grill . I eat about a big enough piece to comfortably fit in the palm of your hand. I would rather have the salad and baked potato that goes with it.

I love breakfast stuff like eggs, grits , hashbrowns, bacon, biscuits, gravy, etc. I could live off bread. I know it's not good for you. so I don't.

I could live off of seafood (with the occasional steak), there are a few things like calamari that I can live without there isn't much that comes from the sea I won't eat.

Must be the palate. I have honestly made an effort to try to eat that stuff. My brother and dad loved it. My wife loves it. I hate coffee too. Can't drink it, and it smells nasty.

I dont drink coffee either, 72...sure you dont have any other sons around? Hmmmm. Might need to talk to my Mama...you said you were in knoxville in the 70s for school, but i was hatched in 77...seems a little late. Stranger things have happened though...so how far is that mountain house in NC from Charlotte? Boone is about 2.5hrs i believe...i live 1 county west of Charlotte proper though, so that shaves time....

Does your mother have brown hair and blue eyes?

I don’t think much of octopus. I don’t believe they were ever intended for human consumption.

OB is my only child as far as I know. I left Knox in 1972, but moved back there in about 1979 or 80 for a year.

Kids are expensive as hell. I'm in the middle of buying one of grandkids a play toy that I never could have had in my childhood. It's nice to be able to buy your grandkid something you always wanted but couldn't have.
