Digital Broadcast TV Experience

Chromecast will mirror the chrome browser from any device. I've not seen it in action but reviews say it's a little clunky but does work.

If you have a Mac just get an AppleTV.

IMO it's not clunky at all for the supported apps like youtube, hulu, etc. AllCast will allow you to stream anything or just mirror your desktop but it could be described as a bit clunky. With the release of the SDK it's about to get a whole lot more useful

I love it because once my son finds a video he wants to watch I simply cast it to the tv

I don't have a Mac. And I don't want 100 different devices. I'm planning on using my PS4 for the bulk of the streaming apps and I'm still trying to justify adding an OTA DVR. DVR is going to set me back and push my break-even date another 4 months down the line, or I'm going to have to get a TiVo subscription, which feels counterproductive.

I built an HTPC for a DVR. I probably went a bit overboard on the specs but it works and was made up in a few months of no cable bill. Even if people have cable they should at least try an HD antenna for their local channels. Much better

On espn news?

Per the SEC/ESPN agreement they have to be broadcasted so that's where the games no one cares about got bumped. In the future it will probably be the SEC Network.

I meant the mirroring feature was clunky. Not the supported apps.

Decided to cut the cord.

Already ordered an antenna and Roku 3, but not sure what to do for DVR.

Anyone have good experience with OTA DVR other than TiVo? I had a TiVo several yrs ago and liked it but really can't justify the monthly bill per TV.

I've read reviews for Simple TV, DVR+, but seems like there isn't a great/reliable option yet.

I did about 3 weeks ago and haven't regretted it. Didn't have a DVR, just watch the shows when they come on. Thought about hooking up a VCR lol

What about the sec network?

I'm not 100% sure, but there appears to be a deal between Roku and SEC Network.

Not sure how much, but current Comcast cable, phone, internet bundle tops $150/month and I decided it is not worth it to me.

If I can't watch at home I'll go somewhere to watch the games.

I'm about to kick direct tv myself. I'm tired of paying for channels I don't watch.

Thanks for your help.

What's the price to stream these channels with roku?

Say hbo for example. What about the major networks?

Isn't roku just like an Apple TV or chromecast? You'll still have to have subscriptions for stuff like Netflix, watchespn, hbogo, etc......Or know somebody who will share their account info with you.

I haven't gotten it yet, but plan on getting Hulu and Netflix. I think it $15.00 per month for both. All I have now is an antenna that I bought at Best Buy. Get clear HD channels for free. I stream sports on my computer for free right now

Get netflix now. The price is going up next month but I think you can still get grandfathered in for 7.99.

Read about this a couple weeks ago. Sounded interesting. Little pricey considering the hard drive isnt included.

Somebody give me the lowdown on digital antennas. I'm intrigued. We watch very little cable TV save football season. Wife would want networks for a few shows I'm embarrassed to admit that she watches from time to time (OK. OK. Bachelor, Voice, etc)
