Discussions to fire Malzahn?

It's such an insane amount of money that's required to fire him. They won't have any trouble finding a replacement, though. Who wouldn't want that kind of golden parachute?

Why isn’t Barn more consistent? They should at least be LSU every year. Don’t think 9 wins a year is too much to ask

If they were going to throw a "Jimbo Fisher" sized offer at someone currently coaching, I'd think the list of guys realistically interested would look something like James Franklin, Gary Patterson, Chris Peterson, Jeff Brohm, and Mike Gundy.

At a macro level, they've never, in their entire history, had back-to-back 10-win regular seasons. Only once have they had a back-to-back 10-win finish with a bowl game included. This is simply how Auburn has always been.

At a micro level, they aren't consistent under Gus because he can't develop a QB. They tend to do well the first year after bringing in a transfer (see Newton, Marshall, Stidham), but then slide because the transfer either leaves after one year (Newton) or gets figured out by the league (Marshall, Stidham). When Gus has to operate with a QB he actually recruited and worked with from Day 1, he gets a Jeremy Johnson or Sean White.

I know we take the cake on botching coaching hires, but Auburn has a track record of messing it up as well. Remember "plane-gate" when they tried to hire Bobby Petrino while Tuberville was still the coach? They better have someone signed and sealed before letting Malzahn go.

Bob. You fire Gus and pay his buyout you better have a big name lined up. Looks like Auburn might

I don't see how they're gonna pay Gus $32 million to go away, and then tack on $7.5 to $8 million a year to bring in Stoops. I guess nothing's impossible, but that would really surprise me.
