Penalties this year overall, live ball, and vs UT. I only included Austin Peays game vs TN as their game data is hard to find. UT has committed 85 total penalties to date.

Tennessee is in college football purgatory atm. They were slapped on the wrist for the Pruitt fiasco and now the SEC and NCAA will make sure to punish them for their crimes. Tennessee can show up and play as hard and well as they want, but their momentum will be stopped by the officials, has happened way too many times over the past few games. They called a double holding call on a great Sampson run against Missouri, even the Danielson wondered where the holds were........
yea unofficial official bowl ban as punishment imo.

Tennessee is one of the most penalized teams in the country.. Lack of discipline has been a thing under Heupel..
This is true. The problem isn’t so much the ones called on TN but the ones NOT called on the opponents (the whole point of no live ball fouls for 11 quarters). I’ve seen TN hold and commit DPI many times and get rightfully flagged. I have also seen the opponent (they are choking out Tyler Baron with impunity) commit the same (if not worse) obvious fouls and not get called.

Interesting. Also note where the games are played. In 4 SEC road games, there were 3 total live ball fouls called on the opponent. The 2 against Mizzou were pretty much after the game was decided. I don’t recall when the one against FL was.

Early in the 1st quarter. What's really shocking to me is the percentage of Georgia's fouls being live ball. Be interesting to see if they get any this weekend.

THIS RIGHT HERE. If we get rightfully flagged for obvious holding, dpi, facemask, why have our opponents OBVIOUS and proven (by video/photo) NOT been called?

If you look at holding penalties, and pass interference, it will be absolutely ridiculous. I think in sec play, the last holding call was against Florida. I'm not sure on that.

I'm not sure there has been a single pass interference in sec play.

If there has been a call, it would be when it didn't matter.

Opp have been called 7 times for holding (Offense and Def) and 3 times for PI. ( 2 vs A&M, 1 vs Missouri). 4 of our opponents have not been called for holding and 8 have not been called for PI.

TN has been called 25 times for holding and 7 for PI. TN has had at least 1 holding call in every game and have been called for PI in 4.

I read a story yesterday that A to Z Sports posted a couple of days ago that made me furious all over again. The officials in the Missouri game did us a favor, and broke a streak of 11 quarters where our SEC opponents were not flagged for a live ball penalty. Let that sink in for a moment. 11 quarters. The 4th quarter of TX A&M, the two entire games against Alabama and Kentucky, and the 1st two quarters of the Missouri game. All the while, throwing flags on TN to the tune of over 9 a game in the last three games. I get that the job is hard, but that isn't even remotely plausible.
If it looks like a duck
If it quacks like a duck
If it swims like a duck
It must be a duck

Yes. It is obvious.

Heupel's teams at UCF were also heavily penalized. I posted a post game presser from his UCF game against Tulsa where they specifically asked him about all the penalties and mistakes. So this is nothing new with Heupel's teams. I'm sure the pace at which the play leads to some of this, but I'm also convinced that both UT and UCF were poorly disciplined teams. They both have one thing in common....Heupel. I suspect that he's inclined to accept the penalties being a result of his style of play so there's not as much emphasis on their elimination. The no calls on our opponents OTOH do call the refs into question. I just find it hard to believe that our opponents play so much cleaner against us than they do the rest of the year. I expect the discrepancy when it comes to the blue bloods since those are sacred cash cows, but the others? That's hard to swallow.

Now come on guys. These officials are business men, lawyers, DRs etc. No way they would jeopardize their livelihood by intentionally doing the wrong thing. Right

I can tell you what’d I could see happen. We open up with some fight and piss. Mentions of “revenging” the loss against Mizz……we hang with Ga till mid second quarter then some BS call at the worst time in an extremely tight game happens.

Then it happens and we watch it like watching a guy parachute and his main chute fails then his backup gets eaten by moths on the way down

The officiating is a political structure without accountability to anyone, including the NCAA. I am not sure this could ever be fixed regardless of the stats. If teams are stealing signals, what makes anyone believe the referees can't be bought?
Never meet a person that enjoyed football not be a fan of a particular team. Officials must be a rare breed

It’s so easy for officials to control a game. Call fouls at the right moment and don’t call any in the opposing team. That’s a recipe for success. Easy as that. There were so many questionable holds and PIs called on us. If they were consistent, the opposition would have been penalized even more as their no calls were obvious. Numerous face masks, holds and PIs that were never called. And we havnt even talked about the “fair catch”, the defensive delay of game, our DB getting kicked in the end zone, or the refs just deciding to let the defense substitute when the offense did not. Oh and the kick of the ball. The list goes on and on. It’s so unbelievably obvious.

our DB getting kicked in the end zone,

I had almost forgotten about that. The thing that bothered me the most about that is that everyone watching the game saw that, and CBS replayed that TD from about 4 different angles and EVERY SINGLE TIME they replayed it they cut away JUST BEFORE the guy kicks our DB. That is the same tough guy that punched the girl rushing the field. I REALLY hate Alabama.

Yup and the broadcasters didn’t even mention it if I remember correctly.
