The sound system is very poor.. It sounded like some we did the "weekend project" in a rusted out Trans Am and drive around the neighborhood with the base as the main focus.... Perhaps a good idea, poor outcome

I don't understand how this even sort of bothered people??? I was at the game and the only time I noticed the fact that the DJ was there was when they showed him on the screen. Otherwise it was pretty typical pre-game music, and the tradition rich elements were still prevelant. It seems like some of you are just trying really hard to hate on something...everything...

The DJ was cool. GREAT idea. I saw a lot of people stop by to say hi to him and take pictures with him. He was all smiles and very energetic and added a positive vibe down on the field. It is also just another small detail that sets us apart from other schools, which is a good thing. If someone cant appreciate this, I just dont know what to tell you.

Totally agree Volly...but some of those "blue hairs" contribute To UT an entire game ticket sales with one check.

Some? How many? Seriously, how many?

A "regular" seat ticket is $80 for the GA game. How many $8,196,400.00 checks do we get each year.

Ridiculous point to support your crotchety old thinking.

Change is the devil's work.
It frightens and confuses me.

Volly's 1st post was in the 4 o'clock hour...so she was in the stadium at least 1.5 hours before kickoff, correct?

A lot of people show up about 20 minutes before kickoff to see the band, running through the T, etc.

There needs to be something for the fans like Volly, who want to show up early, to entertain them. If there's a former player spinning tunes in a DJ booth, great! There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to get fans into the stadium a little earlier. That means more revenue in concesssions.

There will still be those that arrive 20 minutes before kickoff and the DJ booth is gone. They wouldn't even know it was there.

I thought the DJ booth was great...bonus points for it being a former Vols QB spinning back there. Needs to stick with the music though and not the pre-game PA Announcements.

I would rather have five more minutes of either Sterl the Pearl or The Pride than listen to the whiny-voiced-cheerleader on the mic do the stupid "orange" "white" and "gimme a V" crap. Sounds like a junior high pep rally from 1954.

Rap and hip hop music has been played pregame for as long as I have been going to pregames. Only new thing about it is there was an actual person down there mixing it instead of a cd being played only. Not sure how that's messing with tradition.

Blue hairs provide the cash to keep this machine rolling. Just stating the obvious. Haslam isnt 19 ya know :hi:

Where is your money going to be,with out the players. The DJ is for the players, to help get them loose and pumped up during warm ups, at least that is my take of it.

If you watch other games or go to other venues these schools have gone into the hip stage playing techno and some mild rap. There entire stadium is jumpin. Perfect example. Last night Clemson was playing jump on it and the entire stadium was jumping around. At tennessee we still play old country an old grateful dead and that doesn't get anybody's energy going

The DJ booth was a nice pre-game addition. The only serious "traditions" are winning and representing the university with pride. And it was pretty funny to see Holly Warlick rocking out in the booth.

The average take from tickets for a single game isn't nearly that high. Season tickets average out to closer to $65/game and you have 10,000 student tickets that are only $10.

I don't particularly like it but let's be honest, Neyland's atmosphere has sucked for a good while. And I don't just mean for the last 5 years of bad football, we've hardly ever brought it for 60 minutes since the 90s.

Couldn't agree more. Did anyone see Georgia/Clemson last night? Was ANYONE sitting down? I am all for Rocky-top and the band after big plays but bring on some music to get the crowd going at times.

And I don't want to hear the "wait until we are winning" crap...refer to the threads about sitting versus standing. Leaving early, no standing, embarrassing.

Ok, my bad. Thanks for the info.

So how many $6,000,000 checks do we get each year?
