Yeah, saying he’d take Yarbrough and Tyler Smith over Knecht is pretty out there. I agree that Houston is the only one even worthy to be in the conversation. Yarbrough!!!??And you’d lose. Taking Yarbrough and maybe Tyler over DK is the goofiest thing I’ve seen posted here in a while. The only acceptable argument is Houston. Their games are similar, but DK is the better athlete.
You lost me with Yarbrough and Tyler Smith.Or Yarbrough or Lofton or Grant
I mean can you imagine Lofton playing with the depth on Vols team they have now?!? Dane played the 4 at times and most of talent around him was young! Plus the way the game is played today Chris would’ve average 25-30 points a game.
I can’t imagine how good Yarbrough would’ve been with a Coach Barnes on the bench instead of J. Green who was notorious for just letting team do what they wanted.
Look up definition of complete player. Then look up numbers Lofton, Ellis, and Yarbrough put up for 4 years
I’ll even concede on T. smith only because he didn’t play 4.
Im fine if anyone wants to argue best offensive player in a long while if not ever to set foot on campus. He’s in that conversation but, Psst….there’s a difference between offense & defense as well as rebounding and not rebounding. Best players do it allPsst…there is a difference between “best player” and “best career….”

I agree. The only one in my time being able to remember and closely following UT bball over last 35 years is Houston. That’s the only debate. I’d see merit in either one, but none of the others are as good or contents a player as DK is.Taking either of those two of DK is asinine. As great as Lofton was, DK is the more complete player and it’s not really close. Taking any of those three over DK is kind of silly.
And I don’t think it’s even close. No disrespect to Houston, Lofton, or G-will. Dalton Knecht is head and shoulders above them.
When do you think the 3 point line came along? White had it for a bit of his career here, Houston had it his entire career here. It was adopted by all schools in 1986.Tony White and Allan Houston and Dale Ellis would have thrived even more if the three point line had been around at that time.
It would be fun to watch them and Knecht play a game of HORSE.
So you think Tobias’ 15 & 7 is better than DK’s 20 & 5?Im fine if anyone wants to argue best offensive player in a long while if not ever to set foot on campus. Tobias as an 18/19yo kid put up amazing numbers for one year also
I love DK. Amazing! However…Bernard King averaged 26 pts 13 boards as a true freshman with no 3-pt Shot. 3 time SEC player of the year, 2 time first team all American. He is a top 5 all-time SEC player, along with Maravich, Shaq, Dan Issell. DK is great but has a ways to go to get into that conversation.
He actually reminds me most of Houston. He’s the best since Houston, that’s for sure. But Houston was on some terrible teams.I don’t know if he’s head and shoulders above Houston. Houston played on horrific teams, but he was phenomenal.Inly 1 SEC player has more career points than Houston. That is Pistol Pete. Is the that people feel they have to do stuff like this and make lists . Knecht is great. Saying he’s head and shoulders above Houston is absurd.
