Do we have the money?

It isn't just one game, it was the crappy (unimaginative) offense from all year that was allergic to running short pass plays like slants, outs, etc.

It is the entire WR room going into the portal.

It is the lack of big pickups so far in transfers.

Etc. Signs are there that we are a struggling program unless something happens quick.
We still had people running wide open all year, but Nico missed them, there were drops or the o-line couldn't protect long enough. If those problems were fixed then we probably win the title lol. Just aren't there yet in year 4 after a total rebuild. Portal season isn't over and we aren't close to knowing what our roster is going to look like. Overreaction city over here.

It doesnt matter how much money Spyre has, our staff wont overspend or bid for a player. If we offer a player a certain $ amount, and then another team offers him more $, we will let that player walk. All the insiders have said something to this effect (kingvfl, ap, rc)
sounds like Nico threaten to enter the portal and got more money. If that is the case they didn't let him walk.

Seems to me that at these levels of $$$, wealthy donors would want a more tangible return that goes beyond wins and program access.

The mods must not be happy with us. No other explanation for these FF threads entering the portal and ending up here.

Possibly but it definitely doesn't look good right now. If we land some solid WRs, perhaps I will fill better.

Tennessee true freshman wide receiver

Mike Matthews announced his plans to enter the transfer portal late Saturday night. But sources tell On on Sunday afternoon that negotiations are still ongoing on a new NIL contract that would see him return to Knoxville. As of Sunday afternoon, he's yet to officially enter the portal.

It's a similar situation to Tennessee safety Boo Carter from last week.

Carter had made known his plans to the Tennessee coaching about entering the portal, but the Volunteers reached a new agreement that avoided seeing the safety hit the portal.
