Idk. Great QBs don’t seem to be that hard to grab in the portal. If you’re paying a guy a couple million to warm the bench out of high school, is that a good investment? Not really talking about Nico, he was worth every penny not just for what he does on the field but that recruitment put us on the map nationally with a lot of players.Good strategy.
Get the QB, fill in the rest.
That's how you'll overcome the odds if you aren't old school Bama.
Dude you are insane. Heupels seat is ice cold. And no he won’t be on the hot seat if he went 7-5 next year. Jesus just stop the idiocy. They have plenty of money lol. They are unorganized and flat footed for not doing their homework like Vitello and Barnes did for their rosters. Heupel is going to be on hot seat in 2026 like Napier was if he puts up a 6-6 or 7-5 next year.
Feel like this number hasn’t changed in at least a yearWe have a rabid fan base of tight wads. I know because I am one, but more fans need to at least give a little. 4,499 members is pathetic for this University.

We have the funding; can we find good enough players willing to come to Knoxville?Looking at the NIL estimates for the top ranked players in the portal, it could take millions of dollars for us to get the talent we need to compete with the likes of Ohio State.
Do we have the resources?
I know it’s the holidays, but we haven’t heard of any new potential players since Moe signed.
The clock is ticking!
Bingo. If you go to an average Vol fan who isn’t on message forums and mention Spyre, I’d wager 9 out of 10 of them would have 0 clue what you’re talking about. There needs to be a stronger marketing approach for the fanbase as a whole. There have to be people within the program, in Spyre, or related somehow, that know how to run an annual fund. I’m a member of the Volunteer Club, but I would never have known about how to join if not for this platform. And I’m an alum. It’s doesn’t seem all that well organized from a targeted fund raising standpoint.
On the other hand, the Alabama AD sent out a very public message encouraging their fanbase to get contribute to their NIL collective. I’m sure there was a link. More important, he raised awareness and stoked the fires of competition within his ranks.
30k Vol fans dropped what they were doing and trekked to Columbus, a dumpy, cold town (sorry, still a little surly) during Christmas. We sell out every game. The “want to” is there. The message just needs to be crafted and thoughtfully delivered.
From what I hear, Spyre does a great job with what they have. Creative and productive plans for the athletes in addition to funding. Highly organized. I personally thing they have done a great job. But the ante is being upped across the country. I think they could do better with visibility and access. I expect you’ll see Josh and/or Danny publicly making some sort of plea soon.

I think a step back is inevitable. Too many teams being way more aggressive too get to where we were this year. They have plenty of money lol.
