The name-calling in this thread was allowed because everyone stopped taking it seriously around page 7 or so.

And those that still took the thread seriously from that point onward were not taken seriously by others.

So I take it hatvol and bigpapavol hat pearl?? How is it possible to hate pearl and be a fan of tennessee basketball?? or dislike pearl..

Which brings to light the funny part, which is the fact that there are a few posters on this forum (several which are appearing in this thread) whose handles are used as synonyms for idiocy and lunacy, due to their repeated disregard for intelligence.

What is your IQ?? To say that pearl didnt make the program is utter stupidity. Thats number 1. Number 2 is, you cant root for the team to win and hate the guy who made the team a winner. It doesnt make any sense.

Buzz didn't have great years, but to say that UT did nothing before BP is a flat-out lie.

What did they do. Show me. Please. Because the facts say otherwise. Bruce pearl has done more in 5 years than every coach in the history of tennessee basketball combined. You take the 5 greatest years in tennessee basketball history pryor to pearl and compare them to the last 5 and they dont come close.

Apart from the Jerry Green run, Tennessee hasn't accomplished much in my years of following them.

The only accomplishment of Bruce's that hadn't been done in UT bball history was the Elite Eight appearance. Jerry Green was in the Sweet Sixteen in 2000 and Don Devoe in 1982. Devoe went to the tournament several years in a row. Ray Mears won three SEC titles.

EDIT: It is indeed not as much as CBP accomplished, but everybody acting like UT basketball began five years ago is absurd.

So does Allan Houston, Ernie Grunfeld, Tony White, Dale Ellis, Bernard King, and Reggie Johnson.

A slightly better Jerry Green doesn't qualify as the founder of the program.
