No, your problem is an obsessive hatred for Pearl.

People not having fond memories of Tennessee basketball because it hasn't won often in their lifetime is human nature. The past 30 years are more relevant to most than the prior 30.

So do you guys root for tennessee to win in spite of pearl. Or what?? Sounds like a major conflict of interest. Youd think youd grow to like the guy for all the things hes done for the program.

What do my personal feelings about Bruce Pearl have to do with a bunch of mental invalids who don't know Bill Justis from Sid Justice coming on here and waxing philosophical about a history they haven't the faintest idea about?

I like Pearl. I just don't think he's an irreplaceable basketball God like some others here do.

The only one of us in here that doesn't like Pearl is hat. I have a great respect for what he has done for the program.

I simply point out the ignorance of his followers that claim UT was a 5-26 program every year before he showed up.

Since you guys want to repeat the same dumb stuff over and over again. let me revise my statement. Pearl made the program what it is now. With no help from Mears or green or devoe. And what it is now is greater than it ever was with any of them.

What does it matter if they like Pearl or not, as long as they support the program. The program is what people cheer for and not a single individual. One person is not bigger than a basketball program, no matter how hard anyone tries to argue that. UT basketball was around(and making sweet 16's) long before Pearl, and probably will be doing the same after Pearl leaves. Getting attached to a single coach is just a repeat of the Lane Kiffin debacle

It seems as though you would at least spell Bill Justus’ name correctly when attempting to criticize others for their lack of knowledge.

I am enjoying our success under Pearl. I just don't like hearing people slam the whole program and act like we didn't play basketball before him.

I fail to see how 100 years of basketball is a "strawman." When was TBA built?

Good point. However, most Pearl supporters would have no idea who I was talking about if I spelled it correctly or in Chinese characters.

That being said, before all you numbnuts jump on this and call me a hater, I am enjoying the recent trip to the Elite 8 and enjoyed watching the players this season. Pearl is a good coach, an ok guy and the coach of my favorite team. Does that mean I have to swoon over him and love him to death and never criticize him? No.

Thats really the whole point. If you like tennessee basketball than you should like bruce pearl. You support the program and want them to win and now Bruce pearl wins at a higher level than anyone ever has and you still dont like him. Once again 2 sweet 16 ever before pearl. I guess I can see where all you BLUEHAIRS are coming from who were cheering for Ernie and Bernie down in Stokely during the Mears years.

I completely understand that we have been rolling the ball out there for 100 years, however, I am 27 years old and have watched crappy, underachieving, and most of all boring, UT basketball for as long as I can remember, so EXCUSE me if I think Pearl is the best UT basketball coach since sliced bread.

Do I think Pearl is irreplaceable? No

Do I 100% love the guy for what he has done here for the past 5 years? Hell effin yeah.
