Do you trust Heupel ?

TBD for me. He needs to make some offseason moves on the coaching staff. Need some serious upgrades. And he needs to do well in the transfer portal. His offense requires an intelligent QB that can process things quickly. We need to pray that Nico has it between the ears. If he does, then 2025 and 2026 could be fun. Not expecting a ton for 2024 even with a weak schedule.
Logical post.

Glad he is here but he can’t always be their friend. The players knew they were going to win the game and had some ugly penalties. Several intentional.

This team reminded me of the 05 team. Lot of talent but some cohesion and discipline issues. Then Cutcliffe landed in January of 06, and put the fear of God into half the team and the other half followed. Hazle and Banks combined couldn’t hold Cutcliffes jock. One or both of them has to go and an alpha coordinator needs to be brought in.

Agree, but not because UF is a good team or program right now. Our coaches failed this team in that game this year. We had no business losing to them. None.

It doesn’t matter whether we should or shouldn’t beat them. Until we do it on the regular. Especially in the Swamp it is what it is. It’s like those people who have 20 in blackjack and then sit there stunned when the dealer makes a 4 card 21. They weren’t supposed to lose but the bottOM line is the same.

The really good coaches dont:

1. Regress from the previous season.
2. The good coached teams beat the bad teams that they are favored to beat (Florida).
3. They have their teams ready and motivated to play on the road.
4. Good coached teams don't show quit or repeatedly get blowned out.
5. Good coached teams hire the best assistant coaches, because he can't wear all the hats.
6. Has the best players ready to play and on the field and is only loyal to the best players.
7. Good coached teams realize recruiting is a big part of college football success. (5 star hearts ain't gonna cut it)

Heupel has underachieved in all these areas this year. So moving forward, I have lost a lot of trust in him.

And Banks too

The firings don’t matter if the replacements are grad assistants from the UCF days. I want people to turn on the news and say “ holy **** “ Tennessee hired……..Fill in the blank. Outside of Garner and Maybe Mack there’s no one on this staff Im invested in. Pope should get at least one more year as his group has been wrecked by injuries and graduation. Hopefully Ellerbee can get 10 legit deep. I’m sure in his worst nightmares, he never imagined playing Lampley/ Lane and Davis at the same time.

I trust him, for the time being.

He built a lot of goodwill last year, but some concerns certainly surfaced thus year.

I figure he’s got through 2025 before he’ll feel any real heat.

Then by those standards, we have never had a good coach. Ever.

I trust that Heupel is the best coach we have had since Fulmer. He gives us stability and has shown his offense can be explosive with elite play at QB and talent at WR. The rest is up to recruiting and player development on offensive side of the ball.

He still needs to earn trust on his judgement with respect to having the “best staff around him”. I don’t think our OC is proven enough for the position and we have some obvious coaching issues on defensive side of the ball too.

We need to play with a lot more discipline as well. Not great to have rep as the most penalized team in the league.
